Doctor impressed with results of diet.

Day 55

Today I had an appointment at my local medical practice for a health plan check up. We are very fortunate here in Australia as we would have one of the best health systems, Medicare . The consultation did not cost me as I am now a aged pensioner. We decided that taking magnesium would be good for what remains of my aches and pain, slippery elm for my digestion and I brought a jar of Salmon oil (omega 3) capsules for muscle tone and the stiffness in my legs. My doctor said today that he was impressed with the results of my diet.

n the library today I found one book by Eckhart Tolle Stillness Speaks and the book that was refereed to my by who knows what, Invoking the light by C. F. Reynolds. I am going away this weekend and will be travelling by bus and train so I will be taking them with me. It is also possible to access the blog by phone so I will try that this weekend as well so the blogs I submit will be brief, it is also possible to send photos as well. I hope it works.

Eckhart Tolle a modern day Lao Tzu

If you have found the ancient philosophy of the Tao as written below in previous blogs dose not relate in this day and age perhaps a more modern approach would be suitable.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eckhart Tolle
(pron.: /ˈɛkɑrt ˈtɒlə/ EK-art TO-lə; German pronunciation: [ˈɛkaʁt ˈtɔlə], born Ulrich Leonard Tolle on February 16, 1948) is a German-born Canadian resident, best known as the author of the The Power of Now and A New Earth, which were written in English. In 2011, he was listed by the Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world.[1] In 2008, a New York Times writer called Tolle "the most popular spiritual author in the United States."[2]

Tolle says he was depressed for much of his life until he underwent, at age 29, an "inner transformation", then spent several years wandering and unemployed "in a state of deep bliss" before becoming a spiritual teacher. Later, he moved to North America where he began writing his first book, The Power of Now, which was published in 1997[3] and reached the New York Times Best Seller lists in 2000.[4] Tolle settled in Vancouver, Canada, where he has lived for more than a decade.

image

The Power of Now and A New Earth sold an estimated three million and five million copies respectively in North America by 2009.[5] In 2008, approximately 35 million people participated in a series of 10 live webinars with Tolle and television talk show host Oprah Winfrey.[5] Tolle is not identified with any particular religion, but he has been influenced by a wide range of spiritual works.[6]

Eckhart’s profound yet simple teachings have already helped countless people throughout the world find inner peace and greater fulfilment in their lives. At the core of the teachings lies the transformation of consciousness, a spiritual awakening that he sees as the next step in human evolution. An essential aspect of this awakening consists in transcending our ego-based state of consciousness. This is a prerequisite not only for personal happiness but also for the ending of violence on our planet

Tao means simply the way

The Way

Tao means the way with no goal. Simply the way. It was courageous of Lao Tuz, twenty-five centuries ago, to tell people that there is no goal and we are not going anywhere. We are just going to be there, so make the time as beautiful, as loving, as joyous as possible. He called his philosophy Tao, and Tao simply means the way.

Many ask him, “Why have you chosen the name Tao? Because you don’t have many goals in your philosophy” he said “Specifically for that reason I have chosen to call it the Way; so that nobody forgets that there is no goal, there is only the way”

The way is beautiful; the way is full of flowers. And the Way becomes more and more beautiful as your consciousness becomes higher. The moment you have reached the peak, every thing becomes so sweet, so ecstatic, that you suddenly realize that this place; this is home you were unnecessarily running here and there.

So cancel all tickets you have booked! There is nowhere to go. .

Quoted from: Tao its history and teachings. by Osho.

If there is beauty, there is ugliness. If there is good there is bad. Being and nonbeing and difficult and easy and high and low and long and short and after need, depend, create and define each other. Those who live with the Tao act without doing and teach without saying. They let things come and they let things go and they live without possession and they live without expectation. They do not need, depend, create or defile. They do not see beauty or ugliness or good or bad. There just is. Just be.

The wisdom of Tao and health

Day 51

It would seem now dear reader that I am not only on a path of discovery on health and well being but now being led on a journey of spiritual discovery as well. Early as a young man I rejected the Christian church and its dogma. When they send soldiers to war they use music, a strong beat, the drum, bagpipe and bugle, the navy used to issue rum to make the sailors aggressive and either side were told that their god was on their side, go, be brave and kill in the name of god. Since then I have tried other forms of spiritual guidance and the one that made the most sense to me was Buddhism, the most passive of all. Now I have started reading the book on Tao I think I may have found the right guide for me on the path to contentment and right living, healing for the soul.

TAO Its history and teachings. By Osho. I will quote a few passages that relate to sickness.

Taoist masters only talk about “the way.” Tao means the way-they don’t talk about the goal at all. they say: The goal will take care of itself: you need not worry about the goal.

All technique is against nature, against Tao. Effort as such is against Tao. If you can leave everything to nature, then no technique is needed, because that is the ultimate technique. If you can leave everything to Tao, that is the deepest surrender possible. You are surrendering yourself, your future, your possibilities. You are surrendering time and all effort. This means infinite patience, awaiting.

Once you surrender everything to nature, there is no effort, you just float. You are in a deep let go. Things happen to you, but you are not making any effort for them- you are not seeking them. If they happen, it’s okay, if they don’t happen it is okay- you have no choice. Whatever happens, happens, you have no expectations and, of course, no frustrations.

Life flows by, you float in it. You have no goal to reach, because with a goal effort enters. You have nowhere to go, because if you have somewhere to go, because if you have somewhere to go, effort will come in, it is implied. You have nowhere to go, nowhere to reach, no goals, no ideals, nothing to be achieved-you surrender all. In this surrendering moment, in this very moment, all will happen to you.

Effort will take time, surrender will not take time. Technique will take time; surrender will not take time. That’s why I call surrender -the ultimate technique. It is non-technique. You can not practice surrender.

Then you are relying on yourself, then you are not totally helpless, then you are trying to do something-even if it is surrender, you are trying to do it. Then the technique will come in, and with technique time enters, future enters.

Surrender is non-temporal, it is beyond time if you surrender, this is the moment you are out of time, and all that can happen will happen. But then you are not searching for it, not seeking it, you are not greedy for it. You have no mind for it at all, whether it happens or not, it is all the same to you.

Tao means to surrender-surrender to nature.

Then you are not, Tantra and yoga are techniques through time they will reach a place of surrender, but it will be a long process. Ultimately after every technique you will have to surrender- but with techniques it will come in the end. With Tao, in Tao it comes in the beginning, if you can surrender right now, no technique is needed.

You have become deconditioned, if you are in Tao, then no technique is needed. If you are healthy, no medicine is needed. Every medicine is against health. But you are ill, medicine is needed. This medicine will kill your illness. It cannot give you health, but if the illness is removed, then health will happen to you. No medicine can give you health. Basically, every medicine is poison- but you have gathered poison, you need an antidote. It will balance, and health will be possible.

Spirit guides and fairies do they exist?

Day 50

The earliest conversation I can remember as a little boy was with a playmate who declared that he believed in fairies, I laughed in his face and told him there was no such thing. I remember this conversation to this day as ever since I have felt bad about putting him down about his innocent belief. Now I am wiser and think of the fact of our own existence and the wonder of that existence, our world, nature and all that is in the universe and it is truly mind boggling and beyond our feeble consciences to even begin to understand, so I think any thing is possible. Years later a very popular book appeared called “The Findhorn Garden” that impresses me that there was such things as nature spirits and devas. The story is of a couple Eileen and Peter Caddy their three sons and friend Dorothy Maclean who find them selves in dire sates living in a thirty foot caravan on a inhospitable, windswept and barren sand dunes in the far north east of Scotland. Around the caravan on a small plot of poor soil they grew the most amazing garden of vibrant flowers vegetables and fruit that grew to an enormous size. With absolute faith in the art of manifestation and the guidance of god they were able to create a wonderful garden in this of all inhospitable places. They discovered how to contact and co-operate with nature spirits to make this seemingly impossible thing happen. This story impressed me and I believed in it. Years later I was to meet a woman who was a clairvoyant and a spiritualist who informed me that I also was gifted and as an artist I would be able to help people to contact their spirit guides. Shortly after this I found myself in far North Queensland on a property, a healing farm, called Mary Farm. The young people I met there were caring for the owner of the property a young man who was incapacitated with spinal injuries. It was there as it happens that I was first introduced to fresh living food, seed and nuts as a healing diet but at the time was not impressed. It was at the farm that I practiced spirit drawings. I did a deal that if I could practice portrait drawing I would also help them to contact their spirit guides. Now to tell you the truth I did not fully believe in what I was producing was genuine but they did and I had many pretty girls who thought I was and prepared to pose for me, I thought that it was a bit of a scam, but I had them lining up and they thought the drawings were great even though the portraits were a bit iffy. I am not sure if I was channelling,  How I proceeded was to get the subject to imagine a protective golden light field about them and then suggest they imagine a place a safe place in their mind and then see a figure, their spirit guide. I would start the drawing by choosing a colour for the eyes first and then just like automatic writing draw a celestial portrait, with swirling colours around the head. One young man I did a drawing for insisted that he had more than one spirit guide so I did another for him and he said that it was right on but there was another, by this time I was a bit fed up and so just stabbed the page with a dot and drew squiggly lines radiating out like lightning bolts and yellow light streaming out and said that this was a high energy one. A look of amazement and he said that was right, that’s exactly what it was like for him. I still don’t know about the drawings (it would have been a great scam to make money and pull hippy chicks though) I do think that I have a spirit guide, angle or whatever. I am on a path of discovery with this blog and I have I am now sure having some help. There is some one close to me who has Parkinson Disease and like I have mentioned I was looking for web pages on light and healing when out of the blue and out of the millions of pages out there on the world wide web, popped a page that was directly and absolutely connected with Parkinson Disease and the healing diet that I am on and writing about. Then today I finished reading the book “A million little pieces” by James Frey, (a must read for any one with addiction) and in it he describes how a little book of the teaching of TAO helped him in recovery. I went to the library today and in the book was a library slip from a previous borrower and amongst the nine titles listed was a book titled, “Invoking the light” I have just checked it out on the web and it looks like it is also relevant to what I was looking for a few days ago. I will also borrow that title from the library and let you know.

Nutrition and behaviour

Day 49

I have just viewed a lecture by Dr Russell Baylock titled “Nutrition and Behaviour”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeFplYBDPdo

I suggest that every one would benefit in some way by watching this lecture especially those, (relative or friend) with a propensity towards alcoholism, anti social behaviour, rage, depression, just to name a few of the debilitating sickness that adversely effect our society today. He blames sugar, food additives, and things we eat such as corn, soy, wheat, and potatoes, for the radical behaviour that has people in jail, cause road rage and the mass killings in American schools.

Friday 25 January 2013

I am well and happy

Day 48

I am feeling a lot better as the rash is now only on my thighs front and back and the itch is almost non existent, the recovery from my excesses were swift this time. My legs ached, a bit this morning for a short time so overall things are progressing well and I am happy. One has to only think that there are always people much worse off than oneself, as in the story i have been reading.

I have been reading a book that i borrowed from the library at the soup kitchen it is about a man James Frey a heartbreaking memoir of addiction. Since the age of twelve he was getting drunk, then in his teens he was passing out every day with booze, he then progresses to cocaine, smack glue.and any thing else he could get his hands on to get out of it, till he has destroyed his body and his mind almost beyond repair. He finds himself on a plane headed to a rehab clinic, I am about half way through, It is appalling, honest and darkly funny. It is called, “a million little pieces”.

Yoga meditation

Day 47

The wonderful healing benefits of sunshine have been known for many centuries in all cultures around the world, they have worshiped the therapeutic qualities of the sun. Wise ancient scholars who’s records thousands of years old, tell of the how the sun was used to strengthen a person’s health and treat a variety of illnesses. The same conditions that are still a concern for us today such as retaining strong muscles, maintaining an ideal weight and a strong heart, asthma. What they did not know then, not having the science is the very serious health risks of vitamin D deficiency

We have evolved to thrive under the light put forth by our sun. We can potentially harm ourselves if we hide from sunlight. Light is the basic component from which all life originates, everything that humans do is affected in some way by light. But too much of a good thing can also harm. In recent years we've all been trained to fear the sun, due to the threat of skin cancer. There is now a growing belief that exposure to the sun may not actually cause skin cancer to a healthy individual. The fear of skin cancer shouldn't keep you indoors all the time as you can reap the sun's healthy benefits with as little as 20 minutes of exposure a day. You can also benefit from a spiritual form light through meditation

Prior to yoga it is usual to meditate on the breath even if you do not intend to practice yoga it is still an excellent healing thing to do for the body and mind

Resting on your back with your neck long, (a small towel folded behind the neck is a good idea) with your arms by your side and slightly out from your body. Your hands open and facing up, place your second finger tips together with your thumbs, relax your whole body. Go up relaxing from your legs through to your shoulders, arms, neck and face. Slightly open the teeth and mouth place the tip of your tongue to rest against the back of your top teeth, breathe. Feel the cool fresh air passing through your nostrils all the way down to below your navel then fill up your chest, a long deep breath to the count of four. Follow the air with your mind to just before the lungs are at their full capacity say soooo in your mind, hold the breath for the count of one and exhale slowly to the count of four, empting the lungs completely and in your mind say hummmm again stop for the count of one, this is the exhaust from your lungs and imagine it as such. The in breath is pure and life giving. I know that this is a lot of instruction to take in but there is one more important healing thing to do and that is to imagine in your minds eye with the life giving incoming air that there is also light, try to see/imagine this in your minds eye. At first this light may be a bit illusive but keep trying and if it is only a glimmer keep trying till it floods the closed eyes with light. The mind is a chatterbox as any of you who have ever tried meditating know, so acknowledge the thought and bring your mind back to the breath etc. Peace and light be with you.

Protect your brain from memory loss.

Day 46

This evening I was researching the benefits of light on healing when suddenly a new page appeared that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. It was an introduction to Neurosurgeon Dr Russell Blaylock and a video. The Doctor lost both his parents to Parkinson disease. Now in his retirement from neurosurgical duties he now devotes his time to the study of the disease plus Memory Loss, Alzheimer’s and Dementia., He now claims that he has the means of prevention and in some cases the healing of the affected brain.

What I have been doing for the last forty six days is pretty much what he is advising to tackle these disease’s, plus he suggests taking, omega three, once a day. Check him out newsmax.com/blaylock/video

Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., is a nationally recognized board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author, lecturer, and editor of The Blaylock Wellness Report. He attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. For the past 26 years, he has practiced neurosurgery in addition to having a nutritional practice. He recently retired from his neurosurgical duties to devote his full attention to nutritional studies and research. Dr. Blaylock has authored three books on nutrition and wellness, including Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life, and his most recent work, Natural Strategies for The Cancer Patient.

Tree hugging hippies not so silly

Day 44

There is increased evidence from multiple scientific fields that exposure to the natural environment can improve human health.

In studies the natural environment has been shown to decrease stress, increase physical activity and improve air quality. In turn stress and the lack of physical activity and poor air quality have been linked with cardiovascular and lower-respiratory-tract. The pioneering work in the field by Ulrich found that patients recovering from gall bladder-removal surgery with a view of the out side world that included nature, grass trees etc, recovered faster and took fewer medications than patients in a room with a view of a brick wall.

In another study that analysed the health records of 345,000 people found that those living in greener areas were less likely to be diagnosed with 15 of 24 health outcomes examined. Results were particularly strong for anxiety and depression. Walking in forests reduced heart rate. Children who lived in areas with more trees were less likely to have asthma.

Back to square one

Follow in my footsteps as I undertake an ongoing experiment to recover completely from eczema, gut problems and an aching body. I intend to achieve this by not eating anything that is processed, transported over distance, killed, frozen or packaged, (known as dead food). What I am attempting is well proven methodology based on ancient wisdom of the Essenes and Edmond Bordeaux Szekely who successfully cured many hundreds of people of their sickness and disease, plus the wonderful work of Dr Ann Wigmore. I intend to remain fit and healthy into old age by practicing yoga and exercising, eating only healthy organic food, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grain, plus seed sprouts. Doing this I will also save money and leave a light footprint.

Day 44

I have learnt a valuable lesson these last few days, like I said at the beginning I do not have a good track record at self improvement or self discipline. And now I am back where I started as far as my skin condition goes. Drinking alcohol and coffee was a very bad idea then to top it off I spent some time yesterday with friends who own a dog even though he was not on the veranda with me at the time he dose spends time there. Last night I did not get to sleep till way after three am, being very itchy and uncomfortable all over.

THE COMPLETE MEAL SALAD

Part three

The average American eats too much food and takes in too many empty calories, energy units without vitamins and minerals. Our “complete meal salad” contains 543 calories, minerals and enzyme-packed calories. If other two meals of the day contain the same number of calories, total caloric intake will total 1600.

Eating the highly processed foods of today negates the instinctive knowledge of how much and what to eat. Assuming that the person who partakes of the complete meal salad is on somewhat of a natural food regime, he or she will instinctively know how whether the meal is satisfying, is too much or is not enough. With good judgment and regained instinct, the individual may take the complete meal salad and adjust it to his or her own personal requirements. It will maintain good health in body, mind and spirit.

COMPLETE MEAL SALAD FOR TWO

1 C mung sprouts

1 C alfalfa

1 C summer squash, grated

1 C mixed greens

1 half avocado, sliced

¼ cucumber, sliced

4 slices tomato

4 slices red pepper

2 T sunflower seeds

2 T coconut oil

I t kelp

Day 42

Still quite itchy today and had to postpone going for a motor bike ride because of the heat. I also think that sitting on top of a petrol engine is not so good either.

More from the book by Dr Ann Wigmore, Recipes for Longer Life.

THE COMPLETE MEAL SALAD

Part two:

In plant life, much of the protein is already in a pre-digested state; this is especially true of sprouts and indoor greens, in which most of the protein is in the form of simple amino acids. Furthermore, the protein in plants has the advantage of being free from nucleon-proteins and there fore dose not lead to the formation af uric acid in the system and dose not encourage gout or rheumatism.

New scientific findings indicate the amount of protein required can vary from 20 to 50 grams for each individual, depending on weight, sex, climate, and type of work. Dr. N. Hindhade, Director of the Hindhade Laboratory for Nutritional Research established by the Danish Government, shows the definite relationship between high protein diets and acidosis and disease. It is a scientifically demonstrated fact, for example, that dairy cows which are fed heavily on proteins are short-lived and subject to many disorders of the kidneys and bowels not found in cows permitted to graze and eat in a more normal manner.

It has been dramatically pointed out that a low protein diet in animals and humans yields an increased resistance to disease, and builds an, immunity against cancer and that it is nearly impossible to graft cancer cells onto species fed on a low protein diet.

Protein is constructed of 22 building blocks called amino acids, of which eight have been found in the food requirements of people. From those eight, we can synthesize the others we require. All eight of these essential amino acids must be present together in the “complete meal” as they complement each other‘s qualities. If one of the eight is missing, then the remaining amino acids /cannot be utilized and fail to provide what they were designed to.

Protein is very sensitive to heat. Heat causes irreversible changes in protein, changes that downgrade the protein. Most Americans (Australians) now cook their food, whether meat of vegetable, which could account for the fact that most nutritionists recommend approximately 70 grams of protein a per day for the average person, whereas raw food proponents recommend only about half that amount. Uncooked food can provide more usable proteins.

Day 41

I must admit that I have not been good and it shows. Last weekend my son and his family arrived from Western Australia and we had a BBQ ( I had veggie burger and salad) at my other son’s house by the beach where I had a few beers and then at my place I had a couple of more beers and shared a bottle of red wine and now my eczema has flared up and I am itchy all over. There is a lesson here that once you commence a cleansing diet it dose not take much to regress and the resulting effects are then two fold.

More from the book by Dr Ann Wigmore, Recipes for Longer Life.

THE COMPLETE MEAL SALAD

Part one.

Certain aspects of nutrition may be considered within the realms of science. An analysis of Dr Ann Wigmore’s Complete Meal Salad has been prepared by Dr Harvey c. Lisle, a graduate in chemical engineering from the University of Ohio, with fifteen years’ industrial experience in food testing laboratories, including both animal and human foods. Over the years, he observed the natural superiority of health in families raised on natural foods and became convinced that the health enrichment of Americans lies in their abandoning highly refined and processed foods returning to naturally produced foods.

The ingredients required in a complete meal are protein, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes in sufficient quantizes to furnish adequate energy (or calories), and elements needed for growth (or maintain). A meal prepared from garden produce, sprouts, and seeds will assuredly be rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. By added a little dulse or kelp to the meal, flavor is enhanced and minerals are enriched beyond any doubt of adequacy. Such meal provides a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.

Animal protein has to be broken down into simple amino acids before it can be reconstructed into human protein. In meat eaters, putrefactive bacteria predominate, and most of the meat rots in the lengthy human intestines, placing an excessive strain on the liver, which is not equipped to eliminate large quanties of uric acid and other toxic by-products of meat eating. These toxins are often absorbed into the tissue of the organism.

To make a fiery adult feed the kid a bit of TV.

Follow in my footsteps as I undertake an ongoing experiment to recover completely from eczema, gut problems and an aching body. I intend to achieve this by not eating anything that is processed, transported over distance, killed, frozen or packaged, (known as dead food). Day 40

In a bit of light reading I borrowed from “the besty” I found a news paper article cut out and used as a book mark that I thought might be of interest, the caption of the article is  “To make a fiery adult feed the kid a bit of TV” by Penny Fannin and agencies.

Watching more than one hour of television a day may make adolescents more aggressive in adulthood a land mark investigation has found. Adolescent boys were particularly prone to violence in their early teens or early 20s, but even young adults who watched two or more hours a day – especially women – were more likely to be aggressive.

During the 17 – year study researchers from the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University tracked more than 700 people from adolescence to adulthood. The results were published in Science.

Our findings suggest that ,at least during early adolescence, responsible parents should avoid permitting their children to watch more than one hour of television a day,” said Dr Jeffery Johnson, of Colombia’s psychiatry department. That’s where the vast majority of the increase in risk occurs.

He said the link with aggression remained even after accounting for other factors such as childhood neglect, low family income or psychiatric disorders.

David Richie, a media studies lecturer at Deakin University, said similar trends would be seen in Australia. “I think the aggressive acts and the incidence would be fewer in number, but I think that the associations would be the same”.

But the research did not mean that watching television was all bad. “You have to deal with human behaviour in a social context, and its social context includes things other than television. We don’t have enough information to lay the blame at the door of television but it is a reminder that there’s an association.

I believe that a major factor in family break down is the habit of eating meals in front of the television instead of sitting around the dining table and interacting as a family. The worst case scenario is the adolescent who takes, or in some cases their meal is delivered like hotel room service, to their room to then eat in front of their own television or computer. It could not be good for the digestion either.

Day 39

My stomach has settled down and I am sleeping well and I now have only to get up once each night to go to the toilet. The eczema is still around but it is only occasionally itchy, which is a great relief for me as it has been driving me crazy for such along time now. Foe those of you that have this rotten skin condition will I'm sure identify what a God send this would be to ones quality of life. No more dry flocky red scabby skin, no blood on the sheets in the morning etc.

I am still trying to grow sprouts, the wheat grass is growing a bit thin, but I have now a quantity of sprouts for my salad. It was very hot in Lismore on the weekend into the mid forties on Sunday I was told, I was on the coast near the beach on Sunday and enjoyed a cool sea breeze.

What I am attempting is well proven methodology based on ancient wisdom of the Essenes and Edmond Bordeaux Szekely who successfully cured many hundreds of people of their sickness and disease, plus the wonderful work of Dr Ann Wigmore. I intend to remain fit healthy into old age by practicing yoga and exercising, eating only healthy organic food, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grain, plus seed sprouts. Doing this I will also save money and leave a light footprint.

Day 38

On the weekend I was talking to my daughter in law about obesity in this country and she said that although Australia has the highest level of obesity per number of population, In America she said ( where she visited recently) the people are huge. One reason she said was the consumption of corn syrup, so I have decided to investigate and found this.

Quoted from: Rodale.com

Foods that appear to be nutritious could actually be destroying your brainpower. The culprit? A common ingredient slipped into many "healthy" foods, including baby food, applesauce, and oatmeal, a breakfast favourite. Researchers at UCLA found that ingesting foods and drinks containing fructose, a component of the ingredient high-fructose corn syrup and sugar, for just six weeks caused troubling changes in brain function. "Our findings illustrate that what you eat affects how you think," says Fernando Gomez-Pinilla, PhD, a professor of neurosurgery and integrative biology and physiology at UCLA. "Eating a high-fructose diet over the long term alters your brain's ability to learn and remember information."

While high-fructose corn syrup and added sugar is rampant in soda and candy products, it also hides out in some seemingly innocuous items like bread, juices, ketchup, and instant oatmeal. (Previous studies have found high-fructose corn syrup is sometimes contaminated with mercury.) Most often associated with obesity and diabetes, this latest study, appearing in the Journal of Physiology, shows that too much fructose can harm the brain, too. This could be leading to an all-out American brain drain, given that the average citizen downs about 35 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup every year.

Quoted from: The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Obesity is a major epidemic, but its causes are still unclear. In this article, we investigate the relation between the intake of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and the development of obesity. We analysed food consumption patterns by using US Department of Agriculture food consumption tables from 1967 to 2000. The consumption of HFCS increased > 1000% between 1970 and 1990, far exceeding the changes in intake of any other food or food group. HFCS now represents > 40% of caloric sweeteners added to foods and beverages and is the sole caloric sweetener in soft drinks in the United States. Our most conservative estimate of the consumption of HFCS indicates a daily average of 132 kcal for all Americans aged ≥ 2 y, and the top 20% of consumers of caloric sweeteners ingest 316 kcal from HFCS/d. The increased use of HFCS in the United States mirrors the rapid increase in obesity. The digestion, absorption, and metabolism of fructose differ from those of glucose. Hepatic metabolism of fructose favors de novo lipogenesis. In addition, unlike glucose, fructose does not stimulate insulin secretion or enhance leptin production. Because insulin and leptin act as key afferent signals in the regulation of food intake and body weight, this suggests that dietary fructose may contribute to increased energy intake and weight gain. Furthermore, calorically sweetened beverages may enhance caloric overconsumption. Thus, the increase in consumption of HFCS has a temporal relation to the epidemic of obesity, and the overconsumption of HFCS in calorically sweetened beverages may play a role in the epidemic of obesity.

Yes i am saving money.

I intend to remain fit healthy into old age by practicing yoga and exercising, eating only healthy organic food, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grain, plus seed sprouts. Doing this I will also save money and leave a light footprint.

Day 37

Yesterday while visiting my two sons and their families I was introduced by the younger son to sprouted bread that he had purchased. The brand name is PURE LIFE, the product is, Bio-Dynamic, Sprouted Bread, ESSENE SUPREME. I brought my self a loaf today at Fundamental Foods in Lismore for $7. 35, there were quite a verity of sprouted beads to choose from. I know that the first reaction to this price is that it is expensive for one loaf of bread but the goodness, food value and taste compared flour based bread is out standing, and one thin slice is quite filling.

I have claimed that I will save money on this diet. Looking at my most recent credit union statement for the fortnight from the 7th of December I had $44.42 remaining in the black from my pension of $547.70. At the end of the next fortnight starting on the 21st, I had $106.29 remaining in the black, from this fortnightly payment I had paid a electricity bill of $157.70.

These are a few of my works of art, prints are available, price depends on size, paper, framing etc, and postage.

Eczema is curable

Day 35

It is thirty five days now since I started this experiment to rid myself from eczema that has been a major health issue for me. And even though the medical establishment say there is no known cure I can say now that the rash has all but disappeared, I still have a few places on my body that the rash persists, mainly on my feet, my skin is not dry and scaly any more, it is looking good and I get comments on how well I look now, the itch is now very mild and I am confident that if I persist with what I am doing It will go completely and I am sure for good.

The steps that I have taken in the past to avoid flare ups was to rid my home of the 80% wool carpet and paint the concrete floor with non allergic paint that I was able to use myself., a new mattress and foods that I have learnt to avoid,

Excerpts from medialnewstoday.com

There is currently no cure for atopic eczema- there is no treatment that gets rid of it for good, as with the case with surgery to cure blindness caused by cataracts. However there are a variety of treatments which focus on the symptoms as well as stratifies to avoid triggers and may improve the patients quality of life considerably.

Avoid scratching

Itchiness is a common part of eczema, and scratching is a natural reaction to deal with the itching. Unfortunately, scratching ( I find almost impossible) will invariably further aggravate the skin and make symptoms worse. Scratching also raises the risk of infection.

Avoid trigger factors

A good doctor will have established a list of factors that trigger eczema flares. The penitent should avoid them as much as possible. Parents/guardians need to remind children of the triggers and help them to avoid them.

People with atopic eczema usually avoid clothes made of synthetic fibres and opt natural materials such as cotton ( I have personally found bamboo fibre socks excellent and hemp is becoming popular)

We know that dust mites ( pet dander) are likely triggers for many people,. However, most studies have found that trying to eradicate them from your home is very time consuming and dose not seem to be very effective in reducing the frequency of flare ups. ( I replaced my mattress for a Wenatex mattress that has built in mite protection for the sleeper).www.wenatex.com.au  phone 1800659969 (aus) for Event Booking.

The detrimental effects of freezing on food.

Day 34

Before I went on this pure food trip I was into frozen food, as a bachelor it was convenient cooking for one, less waste and convenient, and I could decide what I fancied to cook by looking in the freezer department of my fridge and choosing from the packets. So tonight I decided to research the detrimental effects of freezing on food.

Freezing food stops most enzyme activity and inhibits bacteria and mold growth. However it doesn't sterilize food, although some microorganisms die, others resume activity as soon as the temperature increases. Another problem is that the water in the food ruptures the cell membranes as it expands into ice crystals. This effect is more pronounced in meat than in vegetables and fruits. Although your freezer may be filled with ice the air in it is extremely dry. As a result, if unwrapped or poorly wrapped food is left there for some time, it'll undergo freezer burn. In freezer burn the ice crystals in the food evaporate without first melting (a process called sublimation), altering the taste of the dried-out parts when they're thawed and eaten and in extreme cases making them inedible.

LIVING FOODS DEFINED

Day 34

Just a reminder dear reader that if you want to understand what I am doing it would be an idea to read what I have written further down my blog, click on the prompt at the bottom of the page.

More from the book by Dr Ann Wigmore, Recipes for longer Life.

LIVING FOODS DEFINED

(An Excerpt from a letter to Ann Wigmore from chemist Harvey Lisle).

To understand what organic food is, one must first understand the definition of organic soil, since the product of soil. I have read many definitions of organic soil and found that they tend to miss the point. Organic soil has been defined as one in which no chemicals or poisons have been used and in which there is an adequate supply of humus or organic matter. This is correct, yet an important factor is missing: the key point in organic soil is balance.

To understand what is meant by balance, one must realize that all nature, all of life, is polarity. Polarities appear to be in opposition, but in reality control each other. Some easily-preconceived polarities are: are hot and cold, wet and dry, … day and night, male and female … if any one member of a polarity becomes too great at the expense of its opposite, then an unstable, unhealthy condition will persist until the two members of the polarities come back into balance …

In grasping the concept of balance and its importance, we shall now consider what happens when a typical chemical fertilizer such as 6-24-12 is added to the soil (6% nitrogen – 24% phosphorous oxide – 12% potassium oxide) These ingredients are water soluble and absorb much too rapidly by the soil. The soluble phosphorous and potassium tip the balance in their favour, and a true balance has been lost. Any food raised in that soil will not be in balance. Such unbalanced food will fill empty stomachs and sustain life but will not promote health.
To consider the attachment of a truly organic soil, the following points must be considered: the soil should be tested and brought into balance by earthworms and compost … Such a soil will then attract and be a home for many living organisms … and will be a truly living soil.

Now, with a better understanding of what truly organic soil is, it will be a simple matter to understand what an organic living food is. An organic living food which has been raised on an organic, balanced soil. Hopefully, it would be a well balanced food with minerals, vitamins, and enzymes, all in balance. From a practical standpoint, sunshine, rain, and weather cannot be ignored in considering a balance … however knowing what takes to develop an organic soil and what is required to raise organic food , we can strive for the best.

Note;

Your indoor garden can be a great help in this respect, as indoor gardeners can control the balance in their soil. A.W.

A peaceful inner revolution.

Day 33

I had a great day yesterday riding my BMW motor cycle over to the coast. I have had the bike for over twenty years now and it is still going as good now as the day I brought it. It was second hand and it belonged to two previous owners who both apparently worked on improving its performance, it is still a very fast bike for an old one

THE ESSENE RENAISSANCE

Quoted from THE ESSENES by Josephus and his Contemporizes. By Edmond Bordeaux Szekely.

The first Christian – Essenes had no formal creed. Their members were that freedom is the indispensable condition of wholesome spiritual life for men. They insisted upon being just as free to make new discoveries in religion as the scientist is in biology or chemistry.

Precious as is freedom, they did not regard it as an end in itself but rather as a condition in which alone they could fulfil function, which to enrich the individual life and to improve the social order.

The only religion that could satisfy them was one that rose above the ancient divisions and unite men all over the world in one brotherhood.

The fundamental belief of the modern Essenes is that the renaissance of the original purity, simplicity and harmony of the creative life of the first Christians-Essenes is the only way out of the present world chaos of violence, ignorance, misery and suffering.

On this universal and eternal basis they are trying to bring about the all-sided realization of the best forms of the individual and social life.

1. They always and everywhere get rid of what is bad by strengthening what is good, never by violent attack on what is bad

2. They get rid of ignorance simply by extending education and not violent attacks on ignorance.

3. They get rid of egoism simply by aiding and extending altruism and not by violent attacks on egotism.

4. They get rid of violence simply by the progressive growth and strength of our constructive social activity and not by destructive attacks on violence.

6. They get rid of disease by strengthening the vitality of the organism and not attacking the disease.

5. They get rid of misery by the progressive elimination of the chief individual causes of misery, by giving progressively possibilities to every one of winning and extending individual and collective well-being and not by violent attack on the existing law of society.

7. They get rid of chaos and darkness by the extensive organization of order and the progressive organization of light and not by destruction or violence.

In brief : They create a better future by the constructive and progressive amelioration (to make better or improve) of the present and not by the destruction of the past. They bring about a peaceful inner revolution, an individual rebirth in each altruistic, intelligent and active being in order to ensure the unlimited progressive evolution of mankind towards an ever better future.

The less contaminants the better for low maintenance durability, wear and tear.

Day 32

Today I went over to the coast to visit my second oldest son his wife and my grand daughter, we went to the movies and saw the film life of pi and had lunch, I thought it was a great movie.

I have been writing about the Essenes because their life style, what I am aiming for is to emulate their longevity, excellent health and vitality. I know of course that is would be virtually impossible to live such an austere way of life for one brought up in this modern Western World. They had lived for centuries with that culture and way of life.

Before starting this experiment I was already eating fairly simple and healthy food but it was the grain based food the sugar and salt, plus all the other things such as tea and coffee etc that was causing me grief. The changes have not been that difficult for me as it maybe for others. The food I now eat is still enjoyable tasty and satisfying even without the salt, condiments and cooking. The partaking of food is more than just sensory stimuli of taste and the satisfaction of a full gut, it is what the body requires to maintain and function properly. Our bodies just like a car or any other machine depend on the quality of the fuel for top performance. The less contaminants the better for low maintenance durability, wear and tear.

A frustrating day

Day 31

I don’t have a have much to contribute today as I have had quite a frustrating day as I spent many hours correcting typos and refining the text that I began with this exercise, I posted it to the blog and the changes I made did not appeared on the site I am sure I saved the corrected draft but it seems to have disappeared. Then with help from my biker mate and after quite some time sorting through glitches in my computer we managed to down load the photos from my phone camera into my computer. I was hoping to insert some pictures into the blog but now the whole thing has become very messy with lots of drafts and posts that did not appear. It has been quite some learning curve for me doing this so hang in there dear reader and I will get it together.

Positive news! it is working

Day 30

Positive news! It is working I feel great the upset stomach has gone and the old body is beginning to feel like it did before the aches and pains began. I can walk about now with out stiff and sore legs, my skin is still itchy but nothing like it was thirty days ago, the rash is there but the redness is fading. Last night I slept well and woke up refreshed and ready for a new day. I have been doing yoga every morning before my fruit salad breakfast this was a new-year resolution, the yoga was a bit spasmodic to say the least. So dear reader I can now assure you that what I have been attempting indeed works. Today I began once more to sprout wheat for juice and a new meadow. Instead of the paper swipes I brought gauze cloth as it has more open weave and drains better. I live in the sub tropics and it is summer time, I was told that wheat is a winter crop and so it is a bi difficult to sprout here this time of the year. I intend to acquire some kind of bulk spouting device but need to do more research for what I need and cost so I will keep you informed, I may even attempt to build the home made one I have already mentioned.

more information on the Essenes

Day29

The teachings of the Essenes go way back to the remote ages of antiquity a remarkable source of wisdom that is universal in its application. Some of the symbols associated such as for the sun, moon, air, water and other natural forces are from an even earlier age preceding the cataclysm that ended the Pleistocene period. It is not known how many thousands of years previous to that, have teaching existed

To study and practice this teaching is to reawaken within the heart of every man and woman an intuitive knowledge that can solve their individual problems of the world. The Essenes lived on the shores of lakes and rivers away from the cities and towns and practiced a communal way of life, sharing equally in every thing. They were mainly agriculturist and arbor culturists, having a vast knowledge of crops , soil and climate conditions which enabled them to grow a great variety of fruits and vegetables in comparatively desert areas and with a minimum of labour.

They spent much time in study in both of ancient writings and special branches of learning, such as education, healing and astronomy. They were said to be the heirs of Chaldean and Persian astronomy and Egyptian arts of healing. They were proficient in the use of plants and herbs for healing of man and beast. They lived a simple regular life, rising each day before sunrise to study and commune with the forces of nature.

They had no servants or slaves and were said to have been the first people to condemn slavery. Entirely vegetarian in their eating and never touched flesh foods, nor fermented liquids. Their way of life enabled them to live to advanced ages of 120 years or more and were said to have marvellous strength and endurance.

Last night while researching the Essenes on the net I came across a woman hypnotist a regressionist (a term for a hypnotist who specializes in life regression)who claims that through a young woman she has an account of a man, an Essene who lived around the time of Christ and through the young woman told of his life and time. Look up Dolores Cannon Jesus and the Essenes.

Introduction to the Essenes

Day 28

As I have mentioned early on in my writing I am undertaking an experiment to regain health and rid myself of eczema that has been driving me crazy for too long and I am at the point now that I will try any thing to get rid of the dam thing. As I have said this is no trippy hippy thing that I am embarking on but a tried and tested way to regain health. I have also mentioned the author Edmond Bordeaux Szekely and his writings of the ancient communities and sect of the Essenes. Following are selected passages from the introduction and pages from his book THE ESSENES, a book I borrowed from the Lismore library.

“Historically the communities of the Essenes belong to the last two or three centuries B.C. and the first centuries of our era. Their teachings and way of life were recorded by Contemporary writers including Flavius Joseolus, the Jewish historian and statesman, The Philo the Alexandrian philosopher, and Pliny the Elder, the great naturalist.

The Essene Brotherhoods of the first century A.D. are particularly notable fro the simplicity and harmony of their life. Moreover they gave to mankind three of its greatest figures; John the Baptist, Jesus and John, the beloved Disciple. The sublime teachings, of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, is only comprehensible in the light of the Essenes teachings of the Sevenfold Peace. In a wider sense the Essenes do not belong to any one region of time for their teachings ars universal intheir application and ageless in their wisdom. Traces of the Essenes traditions appear in almost every country and religion of antiquity. In Sumerian archeological excavations tiles and stones have been found which show fragments of the teachings recorded some 8000 years ago. And these fragments in turn appear to stem from the an even earlier period. The same fundamental principles are discoverable in the Zend Avesta of Zoroaster, in the teachings of Buddha, in the Tibetan Wheel of Life of Moses, whom the Essenes claimed as their founder. The Essene traditions were known in ancient Egypt and among the Greek Pythagoreans.

This evening I ate for the first time from the balcony boxes with the lettuce seedlings I planted a short while ago. I still have to have some success with the wheat sprouting and other seed sprouting. The meadow has finished and I will start sprouting seeds for another one for me and one for a friend tthat works at the soup kitchen.

Wow this is so exciting

Wow this is so exciting as this is my first daily blog since i established this site on the web just the other day. it is also the first instalment since i started writing. This all began as an idea for a printed hard copy book a do it your self publication on how to regain health by eating only fresh food..I hope that you enjoy reading about my adventure as i do in writing my daily instalments.

Wednesday 2 January 2013

Tuesday 4 December. 2012

I believe now that my history of ill health was caused in part by chemical exposure early with my first job after leaving school. With the help of my father I got a job with the international advertising agency, Mc Can Erickson, Melbourne, Australia, as a junior artist and trained to be an assemble artist. It entailed literally cut and glue/paste long before the digital revolution. My tools were a scalpel, ruler, pens, pencils, brushes and glue. Following the layout drawing as a guide I would assemble the advertisement by gluing all the components such as captions, text, bromides/pictures the logos etc onto cardboard with rubber glue (milliners solution). In retrospect I must have been breathing at close quarters, thinners. I did not last a year in that agency. A big day came to the office. We were going to have a visit by a group of Americans from head office New York including the great advertising guru David Ogilvy. I was told to take up some chairs from the studio downstairs up to the boardroom. I have about four chairs two to an arm I get through the door way to the stairs and I am about up to the landing and the turn in the stair way when the big shots come down to look at the studio. It got a bit slap stick at the the half way landing. I thus came to the attention of the managing director and was fired. I think it may have also come to his attention that the agency my father worked for handled TAA Airline while. Mc Can Erickson handled, ANSETT Airline as a major clients. I then worked in several other studios breathing the glue. I spent some time in the screen printing industry where a lot of bad stuff is used, acetone for instance to clean ink off the screens. While working in Sydney as a freelance artist I also worked in a Car Wash pumping petrol to make ends meet. I suffered from the skin condition, eczema. The itch in the rash is powerful as is of course the need to scratch. I have suffered on and off with this condition since very early childhood.

Wednesday 5 December. 2012

It is my plan to write a self help book as I plan to rid myself of this skin condition and regain health by following the teachings from very wise ancient texts. I am starting from a unique position to write such a thing as I have yet to experience success. Instead of being a great success in life like motivational speakers and the many writers of self help books who are supposedly to be experts in their field. I am not an expert in self improvement but I have had life experiences as we all do as time and the years pass. Through sheer desperation of having to live with bad health the aching bones stiff and sore and in my case a bloody (literally) itchy and just dam uncomfortable in my own skin. My plan is to follow wise ancient wisdom passed down to us from the Essenes the teachings those of Buda and other sources. I hope to adhere to the instructions too the letter and get results giving my writing credibility for my Self Help Book.

From working in Melbourne and Sydney as a fairly well off professional career person, to then suddenly a poor drop out hippy in Nimbin. It was in Nimbin that I found myself back again in commercial art. This happened when an amalgamation of the councils on the North coast of NSW Australia and the need for a new Tourist Authority. The district then became known with the tag of Summerland. At this time all media was owned/controlled by a cartel of local business people including the local Member for parliament Dough Anthony. they had brought up all the independent small town papers in the area. The flag ship paper is the Northern star plus radio station and, TV. The new tourist authority put out a tender for a monthly tourist guide and two hippies from Nimbin won the contract they needed an experienced artist and i became partners and we successful published a monthly  “what’s on” magazine the Summerland Times plus maps and other commercial work for about three years until there was the (according to Paul Keating) the credit squeeze we had to have. Then another radical change, a lovely woman came into my life and i moved with her yup to the Gold Coast in Queensland then with my yet to be father in-law we became business partners. Establishing a successful retail shop on the Queensland, Gold Coast Hats by the Hundred. Later we were to franchise hat shops in Sydney Brisbane, Cairns and the QLD, Sunshine Coast, A radical change from hippy to Gold Coast business man, white Rebooks and colourful shirts, house on the water,we had two daughters. Other life changing factors were to follow, divorce, ill health caused by the eczema, result of which I lost the sight of one eye, depression, upset gut, aching body, insomnia and allergies bit of a mess wouldn’t you say. As well to being a commercial artist I am also a fine artist, water colour being my forte; I also have a degree, BA in creative writing from Southern Cross University, Australia. Five children from two wives, I am grand father too one girl and three boys.

arm with eczema my arm with eczema at its worst

As I write these words I have just recently turned sixty seven and now rising up from being pretty down and out. So dear reader I invite you on my journey of discovery where I intend to follow the advice of a great men and women to rid myself of eczema and regain perfect health and happiness. To begin this experiment I invested about ten dollars today, I purchased a small rectangle plastic bucket, paper wipes, paper cups, organic wheat seeds plus other seeds.

I am not trying anything new or untested here or some mad cap idea of my own.

Day1. Thursday December 6 2012

To start my first wheat grass i placed Into a paper cup one Table spoon of organic wheat seeds I then covered then with two thirds of tepid water then covered the cup with a cut square of paper wipe, fastened it with a rubber band. I also did the same with a couple of hands full of mostly wheat and sunflower plus other seeds. This is for a healing grass meadow, more about this later.

I made a new years resolution for 2012 to become more involved in society and get out and meet people after being a bit incapacitated and low. I noticed in the Around Town the community notice page in the local paper that there was a choir that sang Gospel and Soul. My mother tried to get me to sing but being a smart arse kid I sang out of tune on purpose at school to get out of choir practice. Only once have I sung with a mike and that was at a party when I was drunk and a bit out of it. They had a band there that was very good, I knew some of the women were going to sing with the band, when they got up and made for the stage, I up and followed them through the tangle of cables to some mikes on stands. They made me welcome I was nervous as I knew by reputation that the women backup singers were also very good. The band broke into Chuck Berry, Johnny Be Good and away we went I just got into the grove and bopped along and now and then did my own thing by sinning, go go go go Johnny be good etc, stepping forward with the girls to sing harmony then, when I stepped down to join the crowd I was told I did alright. The choir practice motioned above is held ay a fantastic old pub in Lismore set between two bridges called The Wimsome. It is no longer licensed and now is a home for homeless men, it is also a place for functions, choir practice plus the soup kitchen and cafe. I have been volunteering in the kitchen now for about three months, the people who run and volunteer are just great because they are all positive and caring people. For a while now I have for breakfast, a banana with pawpaw and one other fruit such as kiwi fruit and sometimes a decaffeinated coffee. Later in the day a make a banana smoothie with Bulk Mass Gain and fermented milk drink. I still have food I have brought in the past and recently that will finish eating as I wean myself onto the more restrictive diet as I undertake the requirements of the experiment.

Last Monday as I was hunting in my now diminished library for a book when I came across one I have managed to hang onto since the mid seventies, titled, THE TENDER TOUCH. Biogenic Fulfilment, by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely. Academy Books, San Diego, California.

Below is copied from the back cover of this book.

EDMOND BORDEAUX SZEKELY

Grandson of Alexander Szekely, the eminent poet and Unitarian Bishop of Cluj, is a descendant of Csoma de Koros, Transylvanian traveler and philologist who, over a century ago, compiled the first grammar of the Tibetan language, an English-Tibetan dictionary and wrote his unsurpassed work, Asiatic Researches. He also was Librarian to the Royal Asiatic Society in India.

Dr.Bordeaux earned his Ph.D degree from the University of Paris and other degrees from the Universities of Vienna Leipzig. He also held professorships od Philosophy and experimental Psychology at the University of Cluj. A well known philologist in Sanscrit, Ararmatic, Greek and Latin, Dr Bordeaux speaks ten modern languages. His most important translation, in addition to the selected texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls and Zend Avesta and pre-Columbian codices of ancient Mexico. He is the author of 68 books published in several countries on philosophy and ancient cultures.

The last decade for me has been a time of depression and bad health. My troubles began with a stroke of luck. I moved too Lismore to study for a degree in IT but ended up majoring in Creative Writing and Contemporary Art. While a student and living in shared house arrangements I decided that as a mature single adult with out a home of my own that the future was not very certain accommodation wise. I decided to apply for state housing and I was told that it could take up to fourteen to sixteen years wait. About two and a half years later I was staying with a mate that I had met at university and his partner. They lived in a large and very nice pole house with a large salt pool it was situated amongst tall palms and just above town. I was paying rent but I got a feeling that it was approaching time I was to leave. I was heading home from the shops one day when on a whim I decided to take different fork in the road. I came to a small park with two trees and in their shade stood solid wooden tables with bench seats, nearby were swings and a plastic play structure with slide. On the corner I noticed a brand new block flats two storied and solid brick. As these things go they were not too bad. I walked around and noticed from the other side of the street a driveway between the buildings too a large concrete yard and carports. I remember thinking as I stood there that’s just what I need. It was NEW, nothing to maintain, and just a Zimmer frame shuffle to the shopping square, if need be.

A short time after this I was on a buss heading back home from the Gold Coast after visiting my daughters when my mobile rang it was Philip from the housing department, out of the blue saying they had a place for me. I told him that I was on the buss and would be back in Lismore soon. He said to meet him after lunch to fill in the lease and I should be able to pick up the keys the next day. I was over the moon. Sure enough it was the upstairs flat on the corner opposite the park. I went home and told my mates the news. Had to go back down to the square to buy a bottle of bubbly to celebrate and have another look. This time there was a group of about five men standing at the entrance. I walked past while having another deco at my new place, a place of my own! and then I twigged that it was the official hand over of the property, guys from the department the builder etc. I hung a U-ee, introduced myself. Told them I had just pulled number eight, they said that was great as it was in their opinion the best apartment in town. Philip rang to say that I could pick up the keys later that same day. I was in that night with a mattress on the floor. A few days later with the help of another mate I had all my furniture and stuff out of storage and settled in. It was that new that the paint must have still been drying on the walls.

Day2. Friday December, 7. 2012

I slept in this morning as I did not get to sleep until after two and rushed out without doing the morning rinsing of the wheat etc. I could not get to sleep because, as is often the case I had a sore tummy and a racing brain thinking about this project. For this ailment I have been to my GP and had tests, my haemoglobin reading was off the chart and most everything else was ok.

Today I had lunch at work it was chicken and vegetables with a fruit crumble for desert. I can also take home food, some of the food is fresh as home growers donate produce from their gardens other fruit and vegetables come from the supermarkets unfortunately a lot is bruised, or been on the shelves for too long. A lot of day old bread and buns are given away. I have to avoid grain as it affects my gut but I am hopeless and still now and again have something with my coffee, I know I will pay but I still indulge. In the past I have been pretty hopeless at self improvement except for Yoga. In one of the share house situations I met a woman (I shall from now on refer to as the besty) who at the time lived two doors up the street and over the years we have kept in touch and become best of mates. It was the besty that introduced me to Yoga and it has been the best thing for me over the last ten years or so. Even so I am still very stiff and sore in my joints and ligaments, if I walk for too long I get pain in my legs, if I sit for awhile and then rise I have to straighten up with effort as my insides are quite sore even some times walking around stooped like a very old man. Otherwise I am quite fit and now having put on a bit of weight for the first time in quite some time I am starting to feel good about myself. i am sure that it is problems with my jut that is causing me all the disvomfort

Evening day two: I uncovered the planted grains, moisten them, and replaced the plastic bag and paper wipe, I rinsed the wheat grains which have been soaking and set them to sprout.

I am feeling quite positive about this project now or I do remember writing that it was an experiment, anyway writing about it, will I hope strengthen my resolve to see it through.

Day3. Saturday December, 8. 2012

Followed the procedure this morning by making up a new cup to soak and water the others. Then off to Yoga for an hour and a half of stretching, exercise and meditation. I cannot recommend Yoga enough. The body discomfort the aches and pains, not able to sleep because of tummy pains and pains in the legs plus the irritable bowl are now I firmly believe a direct relationship with an upset digestion system and what I eat. I am sure yoga has helped. It is also a good place to meet like minded people, widen your circle of friends and acquaintances On Saturday morning after Yoga we have brunch, coffee etc, it is not a good idea practice after eating.

There has been a long period in my life of about thirty years or more when I enjoyed life with perfect skin. It was a total change of life style that did the trick but that is a story for later. This out break began in the same share house as I mentioned before the time I met the besty. The house belonged to a woman who was lecturer at the University she rented it out and i had a sub let room the owner of the house heard that we had a spare room to rent and asked if she could have the room for her self as she had a boyfriend up the coast and would be staying with him four nights a week. It worked out fine for about a week until she turns up with a very old Labrador dog. She gets its old dog a rug and sets him up with a bowl of water and a bone right at the top of the front steps and dashes off to work.. The dog was out of the blue never mentioned before. The poor old thing had eczema and all day as I was in my room trying to study its back leg would continually tap staccato on the wooden floor just out side my French doors. The woman my house mate who I sub rented from worked from home as a masseuse and her clients had to navigate past the mangy dog. I felt sorry for the poor old thing especially when that night she brought the dog into the house and I told her no way and told her that I was allergic too cats and dogs and that we had already rejected several applicants for the room who had dogs. She said that she had no alternative as she would not get rid of it, it being an old family pet and had lived in the house before. The up shot was that she soon sold the house. I went up and stayed with my friends in the pole house above town with itchy skin. Apparently there is a thing called dog dander it is the flakes of skin from the rash and floats through the air as dust motes and sticks to our skin. I saw a dermatologist about it and told him about the new place and how the condition had got so much worse since moving there. I told him about the fresh paint when I moved in and about the theory of the detrimental effects of poly carbons, polyurethanes, glues, carpet etc, as I spoke I could tell that he was skeptical, you know the look. He did say that I could be allergic the carpet if it was wool, and car fumes and gave me scripts for ointment and a yeast bath. The next time I saw him he had been to America and one of the speakers there had talked about the effects of chemicals such as the above mentioned.

This evening I put the seeds with soil out on the windowsill, this should have been done this morning, oh well, and drained the seeds that have been soaking and set them to sprout. Here is the schedule

Day one 8 am

Put one flat table spoon of wheat grains in a small jar or drinking glass. Fill two-thirds full with tepid water, cover top with a small piece of cheesecloth (I used paper wipe cloth, one layer!) and fasten with a rubber band.

Day one 8 pm

Drain out the water, then rinse the grains thoroughly by letting faucet water run into the jar, then out again, repeating two or three times, repeating a few times. (The cheesecloth will prevent the grains from escaping.) set the jar or paper cup in a diagonal position in your kitchen is not dark at night, cover with one piece cloth.

Day two 8 am

1. Rince the wheat grass, and spread there evenly over soil almost filling a cup-size container. Moisten thoroughly (don’t water too much-remember it is a very small amount of soil!) and place a small plastic bag around the cup size container of soil (poke a tiny hole in it somewhere for air). Put in a dark place, or cover the plastic bag with a piece of paper towel.

2 Place one flat tablespoon of wheat grains in the small jar or paper cup or drinking glass, and fill with water, cover with cheesecloth or paper wipe cloth, etc as in day one.

Day4 Sunday 9 September. 2012

I was talking to a neighbour this morning and the conversation came around to the times we live in and the fact that we are approaching what some consider a momentous moment. On December the 21 we will arrive at the apparent end of the Mayan Calendar it is based on the Solstice Sun alignment with the Galactic Centre, only a few days to go till that device to chart time ends. The rapid changes we are experiencing for both good and bad. It has been on the news that Washington State USA has in part legalized hemp a momentous moment in history of that nation, on a par I would say with the end of probation one more step towards sanity and freedom. This is great news to an old hippy like me, let’s hope the stone keeps rolling. Anyway it was my lucky day today I was on my way to the library taking a short cut a along a narrow path, when I came across a twenty dollar note on the concrete, wow, then one or two paces on there was lying a fifty dollar note. Now this could bring forth a slight moral question for me. From the teachings of Buda. (Do not take that which, dose not, belong to you.) But I ask you seventy bucks just lying there?

The purpose of going to the library was to research Edmond Bordeaux Szekely and the teaching of Buda.

Day4. Monday December 11, 2012

Compared to the meadow that I planted in the 2lt tub the wheat sprouts in the cups look quite sad. In retrospect I must have watered them too much. The meadow looks absolutely magnificent with its bright green and luxuriant spears thrusting up to the light and tiny green spoon shaped leaves of the sunflowers. I just use my fingers tips now to sprinkle water droplets onto the budding sprouts.

As a Young man Edmond Bordeaux was Szekely was sent to Rome to study and it was there around 1923 that he reportedly discovered a Hebrew text, a gospel, written in Aramaic, the same language spoken by Jesus. He also reportedly discovered a fragment of Hebrew origin in the same language in Monte Cassino. Another claim to his credit is a copy of the manuscript in old Slavonic in Vienna again there is few details known as to there whereabouts of this evidence to this day. I think that he could not resist and knocked them off. Be such as it may the man has brought great wisdom to those who want to learn and follow his guidance for a much improved life.

Szekely published a section of the manuscript in 1937 as the Gospel of Peace by the Apostle John. It is now published as the Essene Gospel of Peace. This is the title of a book that I bowered from the library yesterday. It was around this time while in France he that founded several communities to follow the teachings. The war and Hitler intervened and he migrated to then settled in Tecate, Mexico, south of San Diego. He purchased land and became a Mexican citizen, established the Essene School whose function was to promote the theory that Jesus and the first Christians were Essenes. The practitioners at the school learnt the principles for healthy living. A term he coined for the practice is biogenics, a form of vegetarianism and the use of whole fresh foods. For those of you dear reader who draw the line at the suggestion of this diet please do not bother to follow my experiment any further and also to those skeptics who believe that because there is no validation of the discoveries his writing has no merit can also leave the room now as it is going to get more fantastical from now on.

I am at present I admit a carnivore.

His estate, Rancho la Puerta, became famous as a health spa, attracting many wealthy and famous people. The ideal living promoted there was vegetarianism along with fresh healthy food.

In 1958 Szekely opened the Golden Door, a health spa in Escondido, California it was to become one of the most famous of the era, the patrons being the rich and wealthy especially favored by Hollywood stars.

To perpetuate his health and life style teaching pursuits he authored numerous books also founded the International Biogenic Society and the Academy of Creative Living. The writing in Mexico included the second and third installments of the Essene Gospel of Peace (1974).

He spent the last years of his life in Cartago, Costa Rica, where he died in 1980. After his death others continued the good work including his wife and one of his colleagues Gary White.

Edmond Bordeaux. The Gospel of Peace by the Apostle John. London: C. H. Daniels, 1937. Reprinted as The Essene Gospel of Peace. San Diego: Academy of Creative Living, 1971

The Essene Way, Biogenic Living. Cartago, Costa Rica: International Biogenic Society, 1978.

Day5. Tuesday 11, December 2012

Compared to the sprouted mixed sprouted seed in the 2lt tub that is looking just fantastic bright luminous green and shooting up, however the wheat sprouts in the paper cups look a bit sad especially the very first, obviously over watered. Now I water by flicking the water onto the grass with my finger tips. And use glass jars to sprout in.

DSC00082

My besty and I went to the organic market this morning where I noticed a vendor selling sprouts, only sunflower sprouts.

This afternoon I walked into town and back which is about three large blocks in distance the old legs got a bit painful after about two blocks. I went to get more wheat seed as I plan to make wheat sprouted bread the mixture will also include some Rhy seeds. I also purchased a hand grinder to process the sprouted wheat. This bread is ideal for those who are intolerant to wheat flour. The action of sprouting eliminates the……………….?

About being a vegetarian. It was on the news tonight about the discussing treatment of cattle at a abattoir in Israel, the treatment seen on the news was abhorrent to behold, the poor suffering animals were paralyzed with fear and pain and so brutal treatment was applied to get them to move, savage beating with sticks, cattle prods used up backsides and applied to their faces, it was absolutely horrifying to watch. Our Australian live cattle and sheep trade must end. Surly we can dispatch the animals while facing Mecca and supply these nations with frozen meat. We as consumers can never be sure even here in Australia how the beasts are slaughtered, in a humane way or not.

It is not going to be hard to give up meat for me now.

I have now realized that what I am doing here is exactly the sort of thing that may be an ideal platform for a blogg.

Day6. Wednesday, 12 December 2012

Well am I excited today? It was back to the library this morning to get a book on blogging and I came away with Blogging for Dummies, and have been reading it for most of the day. It would appear that I have unintentionally been writing material that would suit a niche blogg, instead of a book, but that still could happen too. I have done web sites in the past, including a semester for an IT subject, Web Design. I think the subject matter I have so far written about would fit into a niche blogg for people who through desperation are seeking to rid them selves of sickness after having tried all the avenues that are medical orientated, to enjoy life while benefiting both in health, mind and also dare I mention the purse. And we prepared to walk on the wild side and try something new, radical and maybe a bit difficult, but is in fact guidance derived from very ancient wisdom.

The name that I have come with at this stage for my blogg is WIZE OLD HIPPY HELP.

Below is the first instalment of the credentials for my claim to be an old hippy.

In 1972 Genevieve my then wife and my new born son Nathan set off from Sydney for the Aquarius Festival to be held at Ninbin, in Northern New South Wales, Australia. At the time I had an old Holden ute, with a busted tail shaft. A mate who knew Bondi told me there was one the same model as mine dumped in a back lane. It was no problem getting at it as it was sans the wheels and up on bricks, job done in no time and I had wheels. The three of us left Sydney the big noisy dirty metropolis and headed north for greener pastures. Just free of the suburbs we rolled up to the toll gates on the brand new freeway the one that cuts directly through the wild sand stone country. If I remember rightly the toll was about two bucks. Gateway to freedom and cheap at that, one of my best experiences ever, only two bucks for freedom and a new life. I slapped in a tape my sisters boyfriend had made up for the trip, and on came Canned Heat. Going Up The Country. We were headed up the coast to meet up with some friends who were originally from the Netherlands and now living on a property up in the hills behind Mulumbimby. It was great, we all stayed in an old packing shed set among the bananas. Originally coming from Melbourne I thought that I had really arrived in the tropics. The day of the festival arrived and I found myself helping out to build a goat shed of all things, got pissed off as they intended to build on a slope with no level foundation. Next morning the wife the kid and I set off for Ninbin and the festival. After the festival we returned to Mullumbimby. Through the local real estate agent we got too rent an old but in good condition a four bedroom farm house for ten dollars a week. A moment in history for the dairy industry in that area was the deregulation of the Dairy Industry. It created a situation where a lot of small farms went under and were brought up, hence the empty farm houses at cheap rent. the country had not caught up with city rents as until then there was no demand. The next thing was work. At this time the abattoir was still operating at the old whaling town of Byron Bay. I found myself in a line of likely lads sitting on a low concrete wall out side the meat factory. Just to the right of where I was sitting were the cattle yards full up with freaked out bellowing beasts. Directly in front of us was a high long white wall and running along the very top just under the eaves were glass windows, a ramp for the cattle rose up to a covered platform at the top where the animals where killed the carcass then hanging from a hook moved along on the steel conveyer rail still twitching before our eyes, just behind the glass windows. After a while of sitting there a small door in the large wall and to my left, one I had not really noticed till then opened and a bloke with a bandaged hand came out and walked away, and so did I.

Day7. /Thursday 13, 2012

At the soup kitchen this morning I did not indulge in any meat and only a bit of short bread with morning coffee I think writing about my experience at the abattoir has strengthened my resolve to see my goal of health and happiness achieved. It was also after that attempt to find employment we became vegetarians also being poor contributed to a basic diet. It was at this time while we were living near Mullumbimby that my eczema cleared for the first time for many years. My simple diet now seems to be working for me already. Another contribution to my feeling of well being is what I am doing now I have a reason to write a great occupation occupy my mind and time. I went to the Optus shop to connect to the internet so I can get started on my blog. Got home and I had problems getting connected.

Day8. Friday 14, 2012

The World Health Report announced that we are living longer but are suffering from health problems including chronic disease. Alziheimers  Disease is up 20% and depression is a major problem and of course cancer. Sorted out the internet problem at the shop and are now on my way to establishing a blog. I learnt that Turmeric Powder is very good thing to use for arthritis and a friend also said that I was also good as a defence against developing Alzheimer's . I have not done a lot of writing as I am still reading the Gentle Touch by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely and the Blogging, For Dummies.

Day10. Saturday15, December. 2012

Yoda this morning after attending to the wheat sprouts and I also ground up the sprouts for the bread and made flat biscuit shapes and set them out in the sun for them to absorb the life force of the sun.

Day11. Sunday 16, December 16, 2012

This morning I threw out all the sugar, tea (I kept some for visitors) and coffee not a big tea drinker anyway. I have herbal tea mix that I should be drinking for eczema. One step at a time, tomorrow it is the condiments cupboard. Today I hope to get the domain name WISEOLDHIPPYHELP and the blogg established. I have written the tag and the description for the Blog investigated domain names and wiseoldhippyhelp is available as a domain name. I do not have a credit card but I do have a Visa account so it will be only a few days before I can go on line unless I get a free one with a host. So I will keep writing and reading.

Diet: This afternoon I had a very tasty and filling lunch. As it is Sunday I am unable to get organic food so I got from the supermarket, carrot, mushroom, baby spinach and rocket salad I got the feta cheese from the fridge from my little garden provided parsley, basil, and chives and fresh green shoots from the meadow. The taste sensations were surprisingly tasty varied even zesty, I felt quite satisfied after eating.

DSC00090

Savings: I have used up what was in the fridge and cupboard and ate my first lunch of fresh food there was no cooking involved and minimum wash up. No oil or grease involved the chopping board, knives rinse clean, no hot water needed. I snack on fruit and nut mix with seeds and carob chips during the day perhaps a bit too much, which I purchased from the local bulk whole food shop the most inexpensive way to go. You should be able to order seeds, nuts and sun dried fruits on line.

Eczema: Yesterday I visited a friend with a dog all the while I was there the dog was lying on the floor near by and last night I was very itchy but today the itch has been quite mild considering.

Day12. Monday 16, 2021

I will remind you dear reader that I did not start out writing a blog and was quite ignorant about twitter and such, though I have a smart phone. I have been learning about tags and longtails, traffic in conversation, friendship etc. Blgging it would seem to be the best online communication device yet and I am getting quite excited. I would be on line now if it was not for having a card that worked, it will take a few days to arrive. Meanwhile I will continue writing daily about the experiment and the blogg progress. I have written 6255 words in twelve days so I think that I am doing quite well and can see no reason why I should be able to keep up the daily word impute and the communication required to have a successful blogg. It was a newyear resolution of mine to more social to get to know more brothers and sisters.

Sanity: With reference to the above I am feeling very positive now I have something to occupy my time, something worth while and time consuming. As a pensioner I have a lot time to spare on my hands that should be utilized as a positive resource, One that is creative not that I was not creative before. I have had a painting sitting on the easel that I have not touched in months and it is almost complete. I have been lazy and listless just reading trash and watching TV, a bit depressed but getting over it.

Survival: In these times of uncertain future and rapid change I we often think of having a stash of food put away for emergencies. What I now eat is ideal for storage; seeds when stored properly last as do sun dried fruit and nuts. Sprouted seed supply fresh nutrients.

Day11. Tuesday 17, 2012

Last night I slept well without an upset stomach for the first time in a long time and more good news is that the itch is much reduced as is the rash.

Today with the help of a friend I managed after much hassle Windows Live Writer and Windows Blogger.

Day12. Wensday 18, 2012

I did not get to sleep easily last night as I think I over did the snacking on the nut, seed dried fruit mix while watching TV but I am sleeping better waking early and feeling good in the morning. I did a bit of research for a on line supplier for the kind of snack food I eat and found Honest to Goodness, an organic food supplier based in Sydney. Australia. You can contact them on http://www.goodness.com.au they have a raw nut and fruit mix at $ 16.10 for 500g.

My skin is less itchy again today my feet and toes now being the worst area for the rash.

More of my experiences as a Mullumbimby hippy, I can say with some conviction that I would have been one of the last to hand cut sugar cane in the Northern Rivers area of NSW. One day I heard on the radio that there was work for cane cutters down the coast near the sugar mill at Woodburn. There had been strong wind down there that had caused havoc among the harvest and the cane was a flattened and tangled enough so that it could not be machine harvested. I hitch hiked down and was given this most deadly looking instrument, it had a  wooden handle and a blade that was wide flat rectangle of stainless steel honed razor sharp at the back end of the blade was with a mean hook. I think that the majority of us there were novices. At the time I was coming down with a bad cold or the flue. I had heard that cane cutting was very hard but I took to it with a will and got stuck in and it was not long that I had blisters on my hands. After a while I looked around to see how I was going and was supprissed to see that I was in the lead by quite a stretch. The technique for cutting cane is to swing and cut low then with the nasty hook flick the stalk away and stack it down to the right in a continuous pile. It took a few days to clear the patch. Pay day came and we learnt that there was no money as the ganger had pissed off in his little red MG sports car with our wages. I was standing on the road hitch hiking back home feeling sick and sorry for myself when an old Holden car pulled over for me. It was full of Aborigines (Australians of indigenous, decent) they slid over on the back seat to make room for me and off we went. Straight away a flagon of wine was passed over from the front and I was told to get stuck in, I said that I had a bad cold and did not want to pass it on, then amongst quite a bit of mirth I was informed that not to worry brother that between them it was likely they had every thing going around. What the hell I needed a drink!

Day13. Thursday 19, 2012

Today I brought a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar and a bottle of Colloidal Silver. I have tried both before and noticed some benefit from using them and no detrimental side affects. I don’t know if I will be able to tell if they are helping this time around because every day I feel better in both mind and body with just the results of the diet I have started.

Colloidal Silver can be used internally if you do not feel quite right and think you may be getting sick or it can be sprayed on the skin (as a liquid or applied as a gel ) to help with any skin infections. Quality Colloidal Silver is made using Pure Silver Rods and Ultra Distilled Water. It is a product that is 100% natural and safe to use for all the family, from new born babies to the elderly as well as your pets, it has never been known to interact with any medication. Silver has been used medicaly for centuries. It is said that Phoenicians stored water, wine, and vinegar in silver bottles to prevent spoiling.] In the beginning of 1900s, people would put silver coins in milk bottles to prolong fresh milk from going sour. Hippocrates, the "father of medicine", wrote that silver had beneficial healing and antidisease properties. In the early 1900s, silver gained approved as an antimicrobial agent this was prior to the introduction of antibiotics. Colloidal silver is used as a germicide and disinfectant it has also used byphysicians as an eyedrop for ophthalmic problems and various infections and sometimes internally as well for diseases such as epilepsy, gonorrhea, tropical sprue, and the common cold. Colloidal silver preparations (CSP) have been used to treat or prevent gonorrhea and gonorrheal conjunctivitis. I know people who swear by the benificial effects of taking small doses daily of Colloidal Silver for improved overall heslth. If in dought I suggest that you reaserch this topic before digesting the substance.

Day14. Friday 20, 2012

Today I was really stupid and weak as I had instant coffee with my fellow workers at the soup kitchen. Straight away after drinking the coffee I got itchy and started to scratch. I think that as one continues eat better avoiding foods that are detrimental your condition the reaction seems more reactive.

Apple Cider Vinegar is made from apple juice and fermented to hard apple cider then fermented a second time to apple cider vinegar. The vinegar will balance your entire inner body system. The body constantly strives to achieve a state of equilibrium. Apple cider vinegar helps the body maintain a healthy alkaline pH level. Research shows that the higher acid levels (lower pH level) lead to a lack of energy and higher incidences of infection. You can sip some a few times a day for a natural boost of energy.

What I am interested in is the fact that other research suggests that apple cider vinegar can help with allergies because of its ability to reduce mucous and sinus congestion it helps to break up mucous throughout the body and cleanse the lymph nodes reducing the effects of allergies.

It can also help stave off sinus infections and their related symptoms (sore throats and headaches).Taken daily it regulates the pH of your skin. A 2009 study published in Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, that subjects that consumed acetic acid for 12 weeks experienced significant declines in body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference and triglycerides. Triglycerides contribute to cholesterol a high reading we all want to avoid. The vinegar is rich in natural enzymes that help rid your body of yeasts that are attributed to thrush in humans. Candida also is blamed for creating symptoms of fatigue, poor memory, sugar cravings, and yeast infections. In the processes of balancing the body's pH, apple cider vinegar creates an overall detoxification of the body. Research shows that it can help stimulate cardiovascular circulation and help detoxify the liver. There many other uses for Apple Cider Vinegar such as a cleaning agent around the house, hair rince, teeth whitener, an aid in weight loss, used to reduce heartburn. It is effective in repelling fleas on your pets. One part vinegar and one part water can be sprayed on fur and rubbed in generously to the skin saturating the entire coat. Any flea infestation will surely be gone in a mater of weeks when applied daily.

Day15, Saturday 21, 2012

I report that I woke up around 7am and did not have too stumble out of bed for a pee during the night. But best of all, in the past I would be scratching as soon as I got out of bed but this morning it did not bother me

I am not doing Christmas this year but I did go too the soup kitchen Christmas BBQ. I had a bottle of Apple Cider, salad, potato salad, potato crisps and went to bed with gut ache but slept well eventually. This morning was the last Yoga lesson and had brunch with the besty and another student we had fruit salad and a yummy date and fruit slice that my the besty got at the Farmer Market. I was telling them about writing the Blog and the subject matter and my good friend got up and came back with a book by Ann Wigmore who is also expounding the virtues of what I am committing myself too. By just flicking through her book that it will be like a bible for my undertaking. The book is titled

Recipes for Longer Life “here at last are Ann Wigmore’s famous recipes fpr rejuvenation and freedom from degenerative diseases. The incidence of cancer, heart disease stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes can be greatly reduced by providing our bodies with the vital nourishment as herein described”. The besty recommended the nut cheese.

Day16, Sunday 22, 2012

Could not get to sleep for hours last night, usual thing, gut ache, it is like I have overate and the gut feels extended, it can be quite vocal.

Managed to read the introduction and about the author, forward etc for Ann Wigmore’s book Recipes for Long Life

Dr Ann founded the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, USA to spread her word to the World through her Living Food Program.

Ann has repeatedly demonstrated that the body will heal itself of any illness when given Living Food Nourishment, food that is easily digestible and wonderfully nutritious. Health is achieved by only digesting plants that are vigorous with new growth and the energy from the sun. Sprouts, wheat grass, seeds, grains, indoor greens, fermented sauces and uncooked fruits and vegetables. The doctor has demonstrated many times during her long, (twenty years) of caring service that these living foods provide our bodies with everything needed to gain optimum health, harmony and vitality.

Some hundred years before the birth of Christ, Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, taught that live food could restore and maintain vibrant health. He wisely stated that “your food shall be your medicine and your medicine shall be your food”. You will agree with me that health wise, the people of the developed World is in very bad shape. I live only one block from the shopping mall with its food court. The amount of vastly overweight and unwell people eating bad food there knocks me out, huge mothers feeding their kids crap so the kids end up looking like their parents ( It could be said that it is a form of child abuse.) with all the associated health problems that go with eating like that. The cancer rate just keeps rising as do most other diseases, modern medicine seems to be loosing the battle even though there are new discoveries in science all the time, the health issue it is costing us a fortune and a big political issue. The problem with the way of life I intend to follow is that the food I eat costs so little, no value added, no processing, no packaging or advertising, transport, no profit, sorry share holders, You value add yourself and save money in your own home with home grown food. It sounds good I have certainly convinced myself and so it would be my greatest wish dear reader that you join me in this experiment, give me feed back and we will get well together. The good doctor suggests that there be a period of transition. A diet to eliminate drugs, medicines, and other chemicals: meat, alcohol, white sugar, white flour, salt and coffee and all processed food.

There were big changes this afternoon I have been wanting to get rid of my old analogue TV set for some time now, it was given to me and it has dominated my spare room, consumed time and it was not good for me as I tended to sit badly while watching it.. It was big and heavy my friend gave me a hand and we went for a tip run filling her car. The getting rid of the TV has had a run on effect where finally after a decade have at last got every thing arranged in my flat to my liking. The spare bed room that has always been a bit junky is now clear and ready for guests. So this is my first night without TV and I am writing to you my dear reader with the computer set up in my bedroom.

Day17, Monday 23, 2012

My good friend rang me early to ask if I wanted to go with her to the farmers market around 9am it is usually held on Tuesdays but with the silly season with us, which reminds me as mentioned above the Japanese are now into Christmas and there is an image from japan of Santa crucified on a cross. With the new home arrangement I came away with two styrene fruit boxes that I had been using to put the set top box and the DVD player on. I had time to go to the shopping square and get two bags of potting mix. First I broke up the lids and used them under the mix I also brought a bottle of seaweed fertilizer and lettuce seeds. At the market I brought some lettuce and a lime flavored parsley seedlings for the boxes and for my food a bag of fresh salad mix, bananas, and other greens.

My good friend is the one we should thank for putting Dr Ann Wigmores recipe book our way as I am sure it will be a great tool for the experiment.

I have not been that successful with the wheat sprouts in the paper cups. Some got too wet or I got the sequence wrong but I do have some grass I can now try eating.

Yesterday my legs were playing up again after the night of tummy discomfort.

Day18, Tuesday 24, 2012

Christmas day and the world as we know it has not ended, thank Christ. I must admit that I am a bit pissed this evening, as is I imagine is a whole lot of other Aussies on this Christmas eve. I had a festive lunch at the Winsome then a few beers with a new friend an American Indian and this mistress. Confession time, I did have a chicken leg and some ham otherwise it was fresh salad with mango, potato salad and a taste of cake. This evening I had the evening meal with the besty and her two grown children, i drank some bubbly and dry white, not bad considering I suppose.

Day19, Wednesday 25, 2012

I had a lunch with my two daughters who are up from Melbourne at a pub I had chilly prawns that had been frozen and a beer. And a coffee with friends this morning.

I have not been very successful with the sprouting in jars and the paper cups and the wipe cloths. I do not think that the paper cloth is a good idea and I have learnt that they need more rinsing than I have been doing of late. I have been looking on the Web for sprouting systems and equipment. There is for the handy person who likes to tinker around a make your own automated sprouter at home. www.youtube.com/

Day20, Thursday 26, 2012

Over the Christmas break I have spent some time in houses with dogs this combined with eating things I know are detrimental, the eczema has now spread to my chest, tummy and face and I am quite itchy all over again.

More information about the good Dr Ann Wigmore and her success with healing using sprouts etc.

In 1978 the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts awarded her with a citation for “exemplary development of food self sufficiency through the wise use of natural resources”. Among the many other honors and awards for her outstanding work is the 1971, the Nobel Prize Foundation (Royal Laplander Academy of Science) in Europe presented her with a Recognition Award for work in the field of Youthfulness for and Efforts in Regeneration of Human Cells and Tissue; in 1978 Dr Ann was made Lady Ann Wigmore by the Kingdom of the Nether Lands which presented her with it’s highest award, the Order of Chivalry , for distinguished achievement and noble deeds” in recognition of her outstanding work in the field of health and human ecology. In 1979 she was presented with a Cancer Victory Award by the Arlin J Brown Information Centre” in appreciation for saving human lives. ..” Quoted from Ann Wigmores Recipes for Longer Lives Avery Publishing Group. She traveled extensively and helped thousands of ailing people were helped to health by her program of living food, sprouts, colon cleansing

Day21, Friday 27, 2012

Even though the eczema is bad the gut troubles have gone and my daughters told me over Christmas to keep doing what I am for my health because I look a lot better also one of my fellow workers at the soup kitchen told me that she has noticed a difference for the better as well. We were also discussing how doing good deeds for others can be a benefit for ones own well being. Today I was searching for a suitable host for my blog.

Day22, Saturday 28, 2012

Day23, Sunday 29, 2012

I have not mentioned this before but I am also a biker not a heavy dude with skull patches on my jacket but just an old dude with a classic BMW R100RS. At the Winsome soup kitchen I met a couple from America who also ride a BMW and today we went for a ride from Lismore to Kyogle via Rock Valley. The country side is looking just wonderful at this time of the year with bright green grass covering the fields, we had a great time. I have just got the bike back on the road after not having it registered for a year or more, I did have a campervan which I sold to pay for work needed on the bike the registration insurance etc.

Like I said at the beginning I have not had much success with diet and such and I am finding it hard to be completely adhere to the fresh food discipline especially over Christmas and now New Years Eve. I have been drinking wine and beer and even the odd smoke and my skin is telling me that they are not good things to do. My stomach has settled down and I am sleeping much better so I do have something positive to report on my progress. So tonight I will make it my new-year resolution to do every thing in my power to adhere to what is required, to follow through with the experiment and succeed to regain perfect health.

Day24, Monday 30, 2012

THE TRANSITIONAL DIET

“The purpose of the transitional diet – from that of meat, processed foods, sugar, white flour products, et., to a total living foods diet of vegetables, fruit, sprouts, fermented nuts and seeds – is to allow the body to gradually cleanse accumulated waste materials at a slower pace until the whole diet is one of living foods. Even while on the transitional diet, attempt to incorporate as many green sprout salads as you can comfortably can in order to speed up detoxification and allow the body and mind to accustom them-selves to this new diet.

The first phase in the transition diet is to eliminate drugs, medicines and other chemicals; meat, tobacco, alcohol, white sugar, white flour, salt, and coffee.—all processed foods.” This may be a radical change for some people, as these “foods” have become deeply ingrained habits and dependencies. One way to approach this is to “decrease and substitute.” If you eat meat every day, for example, decrease it to two or three times a week, and substitute fish and fowl in its place. If you drink or smoke each day, cut it to every other day, then every third or fourth day. Substitute clearer thinking and deep, clean breathing exercises in their stead. You aren’t giving anything up – you are really choosing something better.

In the meantime, use as many live foods as possible as substitutes for the refined and processed foods. Use unfiltered honey and dates instead of sugar; whole grains instead of white flour; raw milk rennetless cheese instead of processed cheese;raw milk instead of homogenized milk; fresh fruits and vegetables instead of canned, frozen or packaged food. You’ll notice a taste change, and in short time your taste buds and mind will automatically choose nutritious foods.

Day25, Tuesday 1, 2013

I spent new-year eve with my new American friends, we had potato crisps, crackers, dips and other tasty things, shots of bourbon with home brew beer chasers. I feel a bit wooly in the head as I write this but no hang over. So from now on, in this new-year I will stick to the fresh food diet with I hope not too many deviations. My morning routine now is I do my yoga before breakfast which is a fruit salad followed with half a table spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and the same amount of Colloidal Silver. I used to dilute the vinegar with hot water and honey but now I find it better to just gulp it down straight like a whisky shot (whooharr) followed with a glass of filtered water and a multi vitamin pill. Later on I have a banana smoothie, one chopped banana in a large glass, add coconut milk plus bulk powder and blend with a Barmix sometimes I add pawpaw or mango.

THE TRANSITIONAL DIET

The second phase in the transition of mucus – forming foods such as dairy products: milk, butter, cheese, eggs, yoghurt, etc. begin to substitute seed milk cheese and seed yoghurt. While in this phase, try fasting on juices one day a week or more to expedite toxin elimination.

The third phase in transition is the elimination of all cooked foods from the diet. This includes grains, cooked fruits or vegetables, granola, crackers, all cooked legumes, bread, etc. the ultimate diet is that of fresh raw fruit and vegetables, sprouts and fermented nuts and seeds. This transition may take months for some, perhaps only a few weeks for you. It’s your decision

Some additional diet data;

  1. Have three juice meals a day to nourish the body. Include a salad with each drink.
  2. Clean out the colon with enemas and wheat grass implants once or twice a day.
  3. If you cook or steam vegetables, cook as little as possible, on the lowest heat possible, to retain the maximum amount of nutrients.
  4. Eat living foods before cooked foods.
  5. Try not to drink liquids for an hour after mealtimes.
  6. Chew your food very, very well.
  7. Find out more about food combining and digestion and begin using only foods that are easily digested.
