Writing this blog has been both enjoyable and challenging

Day 95

Writing this blog has been both enjoyable and challenging and I have learnt a great deal of helpful information that I hope has been of benefit. The trouble is that over all the time I have been writing the blog I have only received a couple of comments one was from a daughter and the other from an old friend. there has been no one that I know of who has been following the blog and who might have benefited from the advice. I would love to know. Another disheartening thing is that I am still not getting any traffic from other web search engines other than Google even though I have taken the steps to get other is on board.I will see out one hundred days and review the situation then.

Slowly getting better

Day 94

I am almost up to a hundred days with my experiment and although things have improved with my overall health the eczema is still present on my legs and feet and to a much more milder effect on my back and arms,. it is nothing like it was and that is a great relief I must say. What I am presently doing is to drink Rejuvelac the fermented wheat drink each day, eat open salad sandwich on sprouted grain bread that I buy from the local health food shop, Fundamental Foods in Lismore, some times have feta cheese or tofu with the salad as well, plus sauerkraut, Green I grow in my tiny garden and on my balcony and of course sprouts, Fruit salad with yogurt for breakfast. For a tasty snack I have the above mentioned bread with first maple syrup then cashew nut spread and sometimes a banana mashed on top it is delicious and good.. A few fish oil capsules and multi Vitim and mineral capsules. It may seem very boring to you but I now find that I miss the cooked meals hardly at all. I do occasionally eat out as well and when I cook at the soup kitchen. My increased social life is definitely beneficial to my wellbeing as well

How to sprout

Day 89

Equipment

A wide-mouth jar, such as a mason jar.

cheese cloth or wire mesh to cover the mouth of the jar, and a rubber band or string to secure the mesh

The seeds or beans you wish to sprout. make sure the jar has enough room for the seeds to expand at least 8 times their present size..For example, 3 table spoons of alpha will fill a quart jar.

Soaking

Put seeds in jar and cover with mesh or cheese cloth, secure with rubber band. Wash seed by rinsing several times. Then fill up jar halfway with luck warm water, preferably spring, water. See chart for exact soaking times. set jar in a dark warm cupboard or shelf.

Draining

After the seeds have been soaked , drain off the water; save for soup stock. Rinse sprouts with fresh water, pour off. Now let sprouts rest by tilting the jar upside down, at 45% angle, making sure that the mesh opening allows air in and isn’t completely covered by sprouts. a dish is useful for this.

Rinsing

Rinse and drain well 2 or 3times a day for 3 to 5 days. use lukewarm water. Be sure the sprouts are sufficiently and continually drained as to much water and too little air will lead to spoilage. Rinsing is basically making sure sprouts are kept moist. se chart for more exact timing.

That’s all there is to it. Alafia sprouts need to be set in the sun after 5 days so they can start to manufacture chlorophyll. Remember that the time it takes for sprouts to mature will vary—it depends on the temperature and humidity. Shorten soaking timed for hot, more humid weather, and rinse  the sprouts more frequently to keep them cool. Sprouts are most tender when young, and they refrigerate well. They will keep for several days.

Chocolate good for the skin! could it be true?

Day 89

Recent studies concur that there is proven benefits in eating chocolate in recommended  doses and when the right coco content. Be aware that the chocolate you purchase has low sugar content and no milk or soybean, these ingredients detract from the benefits. dark chocolate is best and about 2or 3 ounces (55 t0 85 grams) per week is all you need to ensure the benefits

Coca contains flavonols  phytonuteients that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help in avoiding skin.damage from the suns UV rays. They increase the blood flow and fight free radicals that could result in sun spots.Other benefits for the skin when eating chocolate is smother, moist and less scaly and red skin when exposed to ultraviolet rays.

According to Joseph Mercola, OD, an osteopathic physician, Antioxidants Epicatechin and reveratrol  found naturally in chocolate are credited with delivering benefits to the heart, brain the nervous system and blood vessels, and even he says slowing the rate of aging. high antioxidant levels lead to greater cell repair as well as cell-damage prevention. Chocolate also contains copper, zinc, ion, magnesium all promote healthy cell growth.

How to sprout

Almost any seed, grain or legume can be sprouted, although some are tastier than others. try them all! Seeds can be found in most natural food stores. be sure the the seeds have not been chemically treated. If they have been, the germination rate will drop. Broken and chipped seeds also will not sprout. One ounce of dry seeds equals about one cup of mature sprouts.

See tomorrows blog on Equipment and method..

An introduction to seed sprouting

I went to the yoga class tonight and boy was it hard on the old body at the time, but i feel better for doing it. I think the weather might have something to do with how I feel, it is the wet season here at the moment on the North Coast of Australia and it has been raining now almost constantly since the new year. There have been floods but it has not been bad enough for the rivers to rise above the levee bank here in Lismore and flood the town. I do think that the weather is affecting my old body and sciatica.

I did mention way back at the beginning on how to sprout seeds for wheat grass using the method described by Dr Edmond Szekely this method is by Dr Ann Wigmore,.here is her introduction.

From the tiny seed comes a sprout which is bursting with life force that contains the necessary elements the body needs for normal growth and health. Since it is practically impossible to get organically grown fresh food in most places, this simple way to produce nourishment, which is superior to anything else cost-wise, is well worth learning

Sprouting can be great fun and a real adventure. It is a wise, health giving body that will pay for itself many times over. Sprouts will grow in any climate, require no soil or sunshine, and cause no waste in preparation. for five cents it is possible to raise enough mung bean sprouts for a most nutritious meal. sprouts are full of vitamins and quantities of protein their purest form, and are readily digested with help of the many enzymes they contain. sprouts are an excellent source of vitamins A, B-complex, C,D,E,,G, K, and even U, and the minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, chlorine, potassium, sodium, and silicon. They are all in natural forms which the body can readily assimilate.

My sore bum and legs is sciatica

Day 87

I had my first drink of Rejuvelac today and it did not taste that bad. Most of my stomach troubles have gone but i am still sore around my but and legs it must be sciatica as it get sore when i walk for some distance. I think that i will go on the net now and find out about sciatica. Yes it would seem that i am suffering from sciatica as i recognise the systems described, and one of the best things to do for a cure is swimming which is something i have thought of doing. walking to the pool would be good thing as well.

How to make Rejuvelac the Enzyme Drink

Day 86

Quoted from, Dr Ann Wigmore’s “Recipes for Longer life.”

Rejuvelac, the “water of the Institute” put into the body the enzymes cooked food doesn’t. Enzymes help friendly bacteria such as lactobacillus bifidus to grow. Lactobacillus in turn gives off lactic acid, a healthy, vitamin-producing environment. This leads to a clean colon where sludge dose not collect on colon walls, and where harmful, disease producing bacteria are unable to survive.

Rejuvelac is a pre-digested food—the proteins are broken down into amino acids, the carbohydrates into simple sugars (dextrines and saccharines). These nutrients are readily assimilated by your body with little expenditure of energy.

Rejuvelac is extremely rich in eight of the B vitamins, as well as Vitamin E and K.

Rejuvelac is also used as a “starter” in the production of other fermented dishes, particularly the protine (nut and seed) sauces, cheeses and loaves. Drink glasses of it between meals to flush the system out, and help cleanse the intestinal tract.

To make Rejuvelac

(for approximately 3 cups)

You will need : 1 cup wheat berries (organic soft white pastry wheat)

1 cup spring or filtered water

a container – a glass jar with a wide mouth

1. Wash seed by rinsing well (in tap water) and scrubbing seeds with hands to

remove any outer residue. Allow dead seeds to float to the top of container – skim

them off and discard – they will not promote fermentation.

  1. Soak the seeds the first time for 48 hours. (seed is becoming porous.) Place a

small, neat bundle of freshly cut wheatgrass ( I do not have any sprouting at the

moment and will try ordinary grass from the garden hope fully that will work just

as well) on top of water for further filtering. Remove each day before pouring

Rejuvelac off; replace.

  1. After 48 hours, pour off your rejuvelac. Use that for the day. It needn’t be

refrigerated, but will keep several days if it is.

4. Pour another 2 cups of spring water into the jar. Allow the water to ferment only

24 hours before pouring off.

5. Repeat 24 hour cycles for 3 days, so wheat berries are soaked a total of 3 times.

A dark quite place is ideal for setting your jars. The temperature of the fermenting environment is important. Warmer temperatures will decrease fermenting times. In summer, try soaking the seed 36 hours to start, and 16 hours instead of 24. Ferment the Rejuvelac to your taste – until tart, not sour.

You can experiment and use any hulled seed - try different verities of wheat, or millet, oats rice, barley, rye, buckwheat, etc. At all times use only organic seed. For uses of spent seed, see Essene bread, and loving bread recipes.

REJUVELAC --- THE EMZYME DRINK

Day 85

Tonight I am going to start the first step to making Dr Ann Wigmore’s, REJUVELAC made from fermented wheat. First a quote from her book Recipes for Longer Life,

Dr Kuhl, A German researcher, has this to say regarding fermented foods.

The natural lactic acid and fermentive enzymes which are produced during the fermentation process have a beneficial effe3ct on the metabolism and a curative effect on disease. Lactic acid destroys harmful intestinal bacteria and contributes to the better digestion and assimilation of the nutrients. Fermented foods can be considered predigested foods: they are easily digested and assimilated even by persons with weak digestive organs. Fermented foods improve the intestinal tract and provide a proper environment for the body’s own vitamin production within the intestines. They also help with constipation.

REJUVELAC --- THE EMZYME DRINK

Rejuvelac is rich in proteins, carbohydrates, dextrines, phosphates, saccharines, lactobacilli, saccharamyces, and aspergillus oryzes. Amyases are derived from aspergillus oryzae and they have the faculty of breaking down large molecules of glucose starch, and glycogens. This is the reason Rejuvelac is an aid to digestion.

A quick recovery from eczema flare up

Day 84

Today I am much heartened as the recovery from the flare up was overnight and the itch has all but disappeared. Once more I am convinced that what I am doing is working and I will eventually rid myself of eczema for good. I did not have my usual dose of apple cider vinegar and only one fish oil casual this morning.

winsome

I worked this morning at the Winsome, the local soup kitchen, this is something I do for my own benefit and also doing my bit for society, It is very good for me to get out and work at something worthwhile and at the same time make friends. Above is a photo of the great old hotel that is now a safe refuge for homeless men.

Eczema flare up

Dad 83

I had a bad night trying to get to sleep with itches all over. I think the flare up started the evening before when I visited a friend to get a program for my blog. It is a digital 3D art gallery that the visitor can wander about looking at my paintings on the walls just like the real thing. I hope to have it up and running soon. He has lots of cats living in the house and I am not able to stay there very long as I know that I will be affected later. I have been taking quite a few Omega 3 fish oil capsules as well so I did a bit of research to find out how much salicylates, and amines they may contain, I had noticed when compiling the lists below that fish products can contain a high amount it would seem that just a few a day would be ok. I am back to normal now and am looking forward to a good night sleep.

A not very positive report on my eczema condition

Day 82

Well folks I would have thought that by this stage, day 82, in the experiment that I would be well and truly rid of my eczema. But as I did admit at the beginning I am not that good at self discipline, like this evening for instance I have been visiting some friends and have been drinking white wine which I know is a no no, and I need a good slap. After writing the list below, of food to avoid, I have been drinking Apple cider vinegar every morning which I now realize was not a good thing to do and I have also be snacking on a dried fruit and nut mix. Even though I do feel a lot better all over the rash on my feet is still bad and itchy.

So from now on I will try harder to stick to food that is on the list as being only beneficial and avoid those that are not, and hopefully I will have more positive things to report in the near future.

Amines; intolerance or allergy

Day

Amines are chemicals that occur naturally in many foods when the break down of proteins accurse or through the fermentation process. When digested foods high in amines, the histamine it contains is metabolized by enzymes and bacteria which are quickly absorbed in the gut. People who are sensitive, an allergy-type of responses will result through the widening of the blood vessels and tissue inflammation.

These chemicals are responsible for giving the food its flavour. The more intense the flavour, the higher the amine content, the more so  a fruit ripens. The highest amounts can be found in aged cheeses, chocolate, wine and many alcoholic beverages, aged meats such as sausage also banana, avocado, and tomato, salami, canned or smoked fish. For those who think they may be sensitive should only consume the freshest produce, meats and fish.

The most common symptoms experienced by those sensitive to amines are recurrent eczema and hives, fatigue, headaches, nausea, stomach pains, joint pain, migraines, sinus trouble and the frequently feeling of being rundown and tired for no apparent reason. Children can become irritable, restless and exhibit symptoms related to ADHD. If a breast feeding mother is taking in excessive amounts of amines the babies can exhibit colic, diaper rash, loose stools and eczema.

Friday, 22 February 2013

Sallicyate sensitivity and eczema,

Day

Sallicyate sensitivity, also known as salicylate intolerance, is any adverse condition experienced when a normal amount of salicylate is introduced into a diet and there is adverse affect. Salicylates are derivatives of salicylic acid that accrue in plants and serve them as a natural immune hormone and a preservative and aids them against diseases, harmful bacteria and fungi infestation. Salicylates can be both synthetic and natural they can be present in medications, perfumes and preservatives. For those who find them selves intolerant even a small dose can cause an adverse reaction. The sensitivity is a pharmacological reaction and not an allergy, the symptoms can be hives or rashes, stomach pain/upset stomach, asthma and other breathing difficulties a persistent cough, hyperactivity and memory loss plus depression. It is very difficult to eliminate salicylate from ones diet completely. Peeling the skin from fruit is helpful but the diet I am on and recommend is free of many sources of this acid. I will list the foods to avoid in future blogs.

Chlorophyll is the ideal food for healing.

Day 72

Sprouted greens are rich in chlorophyll which build the body cells, cleanses and heals. It can reduce blood pressure and aids the heart blood regulating pressure it also banishes anaemic conditions, clears the digestive track helping to move the food along in the digestive process. It can also smooth out arthritic conditions. In general a diet that includes chlorophyll will lead to better health and a happier mental out look on life.

All living things on this planet rely on solar energy to maintain life and grow, plants capture this energy and combine it with the riches of the earth, the minerals,, air and water which enables the bloodstream to receive the necessary elements for cleansing and building. Chlorophyll is the ideal food for healing.

A little bit of advice for eczema sufferers

Day 72

My thoughts on eczema after suffering the effects of the rash and the horrible itch for many years are that it cannot be successfully treated by ointments alone. It is the result of some internal unbalance in the immune system and it can also be exacerbated by nerves, worry, insecurity etc. This becomes a vicious cycle as one feels bad in their own skin, unattractive and not at all sexy with horrible rashes, scabs, and oozing sores. How to break this cycle and become normal again seems to be impossible. I have found some success by instead of hiding away and being miserable I have in the last twelve months gone out and helped others who are less fortunate and there are always people who are doing it harder than you. Try to get out in nature as much as possible and enjoy life mix with people and have fun. Eat healthy food and stay away from things that you know from experience do you harm.

My return to complete health.

Day 70

I spent the day resting and recovering from a sore hip, it rained the night before and my old bike was out in the wet so the next morning we tried every thing to get it started but to no avail. While attempting to push start it I fell and hurt my hip which has been quite painful all day today so I missed yoga this evening. Although the food at the blockade was plentiful it was not what I have been eating latterly, it was still good, with a lot of fruit available and my skin did not suffer in fact it has improved a little, I also have a tan so I have been exposed to vitamin D. Now I am back home I will continue with wheat grass sprouting and other sprouts on my journey of discovery and my return to complete health.

Positive action at Doubtful Creek

Day 69

I have had a few very interesting days already this week. My mate and I set off on our motor bikes for a trip riding and camping but first I suggested that we visit the people blockading the Coal Seam Gas drilling site at Doubtful Creek just west of Lismore. We stayed there instead of going any further. The second day saw action when the drilling rig and tanker trucks were held up at the gates for eight hours while the police rescue tried to extract a man who had buried his arm into the road up to his shoulder into the road base. His arm was locked into as steel pipe and concreted into the ground. It was an effective action as it took almost eight hours before the trucks could pass.

Back to basics, wheat sprouting for a healthy healing diet

Day 62

Last night I rang an old friend who is a clairvoyant and she said that she was getting message that I should return to writing about wheat grass to rid myself of eczema,. I now realize that I have been a bit distracted with self improvement of the spiritual instead of writing about, healthy healing diet. I must admit that coming up with something different and interesting every day is a challenge, and I was also let along those divergent ways by interesting leads. They have been helpful for me and I hope you have found them to be of interest as well. I am going away again for a few days next week for a trip on my motor bike and so will not be able to care for the wheat sprouting or writing blogs, but will start anew when I get back.

Invoking the light

Day 62

I have begun to read the book “Invoking the light” by C. F. Reynolds, by all accounts an Australian author, she firsts describes in her book how her spiritual journey began. It was while walking through the rain forest at Mossman Gorge in far north Queensland which is aboriginal land when a vision of colours formed before her eyes, a circular image containing a cross. Then while in Germany at the Notre-dame Cathedral the circular image appeared once more, then even more striking images began to appear. As an antidote to increasing negative experiences she began to recite an affirmation that transformed her consciousness and provided a spiritual quantum leap onto a powerful and accelerated path to illumination. She says, “that the light is love and truth in its purist form- when invoked it will protect and empower you always. In any case, “Invoking the light is flexible assisting you throughout your Journey of Light, from the most practical to the highest way, leading to the ultimate state of human enlightenment.”

Of course what I have written above dose not do justice to the many pages of her writing but I hope gives you some idea of what the book is about. I will write for you as I read more.

A busy social life and wellbeing.

Day 61

Tonight I will write about how I am doing emotionally. One thing that is heartening and gives me encouragement is how people I meet again tell me how well I look and one commented that I am a lot sparker now. I am also enjoying a much more satisfactory social life compared to what I was like a year ago, when I was stuck at home feeling sick and sorry for myself. I spent the weekend with family which is very good for the soul, to be with loving people who you gave life too and their offspring who are lively and gay. Tuesday I go to a class where I am learning salsa dance, tonight, Wednesday, I did soul and gospel choir practice, tomorrow morning I work in the soup kitchen at the Winsome and then I am going to a blockade at a, gas fracking mining site in the afternoon, then yoga that night, Friday morning at the soup kitchen, Saturday yoga and brunch with the girls, then maybe a motor bike ride to the beach with mates over the weekend. I am sure that this busy social life is as a good benefit for my health as the diet. Although i still have Eczema on most parts of my body it is not very itchy which is a great relief as it has driven me mad over the years, and my skin is looking a lot better too.

Spirit guide drawings, i think i will give them a go again.

I have just done a word count and I now have written 18972 words so far for my blog. Over the weekend I was talking with my son who was at Mary Farm at the time I was doing the spirit guide drawings. He affirmed that they were good and it was a good thing that I was doing, he also suggested that I do them at the local craft and boot markets. On the bus coming back home I was reading Eckhart Tolle and I was once again inspired, so I think I will give it a go. Today I brought a jar of sauerkraut that was made in Poland the only ingredients are white cabbage and salt, but I still want to try making my own from my own home grown cabbages.

A great weekend enjoyed by all

Day 59

Hi folks I am back. It was a great weekend catching up with family and partying all weekend. I was not able to contribute to the blog every day even though I thought I had organised my phone with Google to send it text and photos while I was away, I forgot one important factor, my mobile phone supplier has a reputation of having very limited range. I will not name names but it starts with an V. The trip home was almost twelve hours by bus and train but I had Eckhart Tolle to read so it was time well spent.

Beneficial and tasty, fermented food.

Day 56

Some of us may turn up our noses when sauerkraut is mentioned or the thought of fermented food. But some of the most popular delicacies are of this category, such as olives, pickles, wine, and cheese. These are ancient preparation and preservation methods that are both tasty and beneficial. Through the breakdown of carbohydrates and proteins by microorganisms such as yeasts and moulds the results can be quite delicious. Promote the growth of friendly intestinal bacteria, aiding digestion and supporting immune function, create digestive enzymes, lactose and lactic acid. Increase B vitamin, plus vitamin B 12, and omega-3 fatty acids. add other immune chemicals that can fight off harmful bacteria and even cancer cells. Avoid processed so called packaged fermented foods as some may contain too much salt, sugar, added lactic acid, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate and may have been pasteurized. I will be recommending more recopies from Dr Ann Wigmore including the drink “Rejuvelac” and sauerkraut.

Doctor impressed with results of diet.

Day 55

Today I had an appointment at my local medical practice for a health plan check up. We are very fortunate here in Australia as we would have one of the best health systems, Medicare . The consultation did not cost me as I am now a aged pensioner. We decided that taking magnesium would be good for what remains of my aches and pain, slippery elm for my digestion and I brought a jar of Salmon oil (omega 3) capsules for muscle tone and the stiffness in my legs. My doctor said today that he was impressed with the results of my diet.

n the library today I found one book by Eckhart Tolle Stillness Speaks and the book that was refereed to my by who knows what, Invoking the light by C. F. Reynolds. I am going away this weekend and will be travelling by bus and train so I will be taking them with me. It is also possible to access the blog by phone so I will try that this weekend as well so the blogs I submit will be brief, it is also possible to send photos as well. I hope it works.

Eckhart Tolle a modern day Lao Tzu

If you have found the ancient philosophy of the Tao as written below in previous blogs dose not relate in this day and age perhaps a more modern approach would be suitable.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eckhart Tolle
(pron.: /ˈɛkɑrt ˈtɒlə/ EK-art TO-lə; German pronunciation: [ˈɛkaʁt ˈtɔlə], born Ulrich Leonard Tolle on February 16, 1948) is a German-born Canadian resident, best known as the author of the The Power of Now and A New Earth, which were written in English. In 2011, he was listed by the Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world.[1] In 2008, a New York Times writer called Tolle "the most popular spiritual author in the United States."[2]

Tolle says he was depressed for much of his life until he underwent, at age 29, an "inner transformation", then spent several years wandering and unemployed "in a state of deep bliss" before becoming a spiritual teacher. Later, he moved to North America where he began writing his first book, The Power of Now, which was published in 1997[3] and reached the New York Times Best Seller lists in 2000.[4] Tolle settled in Vancouver, Canada, where he has lived for more than a decade.

image

The Power of Now and A New Earth sold an estimated three million and five million copies respectively in North America by 2009.[5] In 2008, approximately 35 million people participated in a series of 10 live webinars with Tolle and television talk show host Oprah Winfrey.[5] Tolle is not identified with any particular religion, but he has been influenced by a wide range of spiritual works.[6]

Eckhart’s profound yet simple teachings have already helped countless people throughout the world find inner peace and greater fulfilment in their lives. At the core of the teachings lies the transformation of consciousness, a spiritual awakening that he sees as the next step in human evolution. An essential aspect of this awakening consists in transcending our ego-based state of consciousness. This is a prerequisite not only for personal happiness but also for the ending of violence on our planet

Tao means simply the way

The Way

Tao means the way with no goal. Simply the way. It was courageous of Lao Tuz, twenty-five centuries ago, to tell people that there is no goal and we are not going anywhere. We are just going to be there, so make the time as beautiful, as loving, as joyous as possible. He called his philosophy Tao, and Tao simply means the way.

Many ask him, “Why have you chosen the name Tao? Because you don’t have many goals in your philosophy” he said “Specifically for that reason I have chosen to call it the Way; so that nobody forgets that there is no goal, there is only the way”

The way is beautiful; the way is full of flowers. And the Way becomes more and more beautiful as your consciousness becomes higher. The moment you have reached the peak, every thing becomes so sweet, so ecstatic, that you suddenly realize that this place; this is home you were unnecessarily running here and there.

So cancel all tickets you have booked! There is nowhere to go. .

Quoted from: Tao its history and teachings. by Osho.

If there is beauty, there is ugliness. If there is good there is bad. Being and nonbeing and difficult and easy and high and low and long and short and after need, depend, create and define each other. Those who live with the Tao act without doing and teach without saying. They let things come and they let things go and they live without possession and they live without expectation. They do not need, depend, create or defile. They do not see beauty or ugliness or good or bad. There just is. Just be.

The wisdom of Tao and health

Day 51

It would seem now dear reader that I am not only on a path of discovery on health and well being but now being led on a journey of spiritual discovery as well. Early as a young man I rejected the Christian church and its dogma. When they send soldiers to war they use music, a strong beat, the drum, bagpipe and bugle, the navy used to issue rum to make the sailors aggressive and either side were told that their god was on their side, go, be brave and kill in the name of god. Since then I have tried other forms of spiritual guidance and the one that made the most sense to me was Buddhism, the most passive of all. Now I have started reading the book on Tao I think I may have found the right guide for me on the path to contentment and right living, healing for the soul.

TAO Its history and teachings. By Osho. I will quote a few passages that relate to sickness.

Taoist masters only talk about “the way.” Tao means the way-they don’t talk about the goal at all. they say: The goal will take care of itself: you need not worry about the goal.

All technique is against nature, against Tao. Effort as such is against Tao. If you can leave everything to nature, then no technique is needed, because that is the ultimate technique. If you can leave everything to Tao, that is the deepest surrender possible. You are surrendering yourself, your future, your possibilities. You are surrendering time and all effort. This means infinite patience, awaiting.

Once you surrender everything to nature, there is no effort, you just float. You are in a deep let go. Things happen to you, but you are not making any effort for them- you are not seeking them. If they happen, it’s okay, if they don’t happen it is okay- you have no choice. Whatever happens, happens, you have no expectations and, of course, no frustrations.

Life flows by, you float in it. You have no goal to reach, because with a goal effort enters. You have nowhere to go, because if you have somewhere to go, because if you have somewhere to go, effort will come in, it is implied. You have nowhere to go, nowhere to reach, no goals, no ideals, nothing to be achieved-you surrender all. In this surrendering moment, in this very moment, all will happen to you.

Effort will take time, surrender will not take time. Technique will take time; surrender will not take time. That’s why I call surrender -the ultimate technique. It is non-technique. You can not practice surrender.

Then you are relying on yourself, then you are not totally helpless, then you are trying to do something-even if it is surrender, you are trying to do it. Then the technique will come in, and with technique time enters, future enters.

Surrender is non-temporal, it is beyond time if you surrender, this is the moment you are out of time, and all that can happen will happen. But then you are not searching for it, not seeking it, you are not greedy for it. You have no mind for it at all, whether it happens or not, it is all the same to you.

Tao means to surrender-surrender to nature.

Then you are not, Tantra and yoga are techniques through time they will reach a place of surrender, but it will be a long process. Ultimately after every technique you will have to surrender- but with techniques it will come in the end. With Tao, in Tao it comes in the beginning, if you can surrender right now, no technique is needed.

You have become deconditioned, if you are in Tao, then no technique is needed. If you are healthy, no medicine is needed. Every medicine is against health. But you are ill, medicine is needed. This medicine will kill your illness. It cannot give you health, but if the illness is removed, then health will happen to you. No medicine can give you health. Basically, every medicine is poison- but you have gathered poison, you need an antidote. It will balance, and health will be possible.

Spirit guides and fairies do they exist?

Day 50

The earliest conversation I can remember as a little boy was with a playmate who declared that he believed in fairies, I laughed in his face and told him there was no such thing. I remember this conversation to this day as ever since I have felt bad about putting him down about his innocent belief. Now I am wiser and think of the fact of our own existence and the wonder of that existence, our world, nature and all that is in the universe and it is truly mind boggling and beyond our feeble consciences to even begin to understand, so I think any thing is possible. Years later a very popular book appeared called “The Findhorn Garden” that impresses me that there was such things as nature spirits and devas. The story is of a couple Eileen and Peter Caddy their three sons and friend Dorothy Maclean who find them selves in dire sates living in a thirty foot caravan on a inhospitable, windswept and barren sand dunes in the far north east of Scotland. Around the caravan on a small plot of poor soil they grew the most amazing garden of vibrant flowers vegetables and fruit that grew to an enormous size. With absolute faith in the art of manifestation and the guidance of god they were able to create a wonderful garden in this of all inhospitable places. They discovered how to contact and co-operate with nature spirits to make this seemingly impossible thing happen. This story impressed me and I believed in it. Years later I was to meet a woman who was a clairvoyant and a spiritualist who informed me that I also was gifted and as an artist I would be able to help people to contact their spirit guides. Shortly after this I found myself in far North Queensland on a property, a healing farm, called Mary Farm. The young people I met there were caring for the owner of the property a young man who was incapacitated with spinal injuries. It was there as it happens that I was first introduced to fresh living food, seed and nuts as a healing diet but at the time was not impressed. It was at the farm that I practiced spirit drawings. I did a deal that if I could practice portrait drawing I would also help them to contact their spirit guides. Now to tell you the truth I did not fully believe in what I was producing was genuine but they did and I had many pretty girls who thought I was and prepared to pose for me, I thought that it was a bit of a scam, but I had them lining up and they thought the drawings were great even though the portraits were a bit iffy. I am not sure if I was channelling,  How I proceeded was to get the subject to imagine a protective golden light field about them and then suggest they imagine a place a safe place in their mind and then see a figure, their spirit guide. I would start the drawing by choosing a colour for the eyes first and then just like automatic writing draw a celestial portrait, with swirling colours around the head. One young man I did a drawing for insisted that he had more than one spirit guide so I did another for him and he said that it was right on but there was another, by this time I was a bit fed up and so just stabbed the page with a dot and drew squiggly lines radiating out like lightning bolts and yellow light streaming out and said that this was a high energy one. A look of amazement and he said that was right, that’s exactly what it was like for him. I still don’t know about the drawings (it would have been a great scam to make money and pull hippy chicks though) I do think that I have a spirit guide, angle or whatever. I am on a path of discovery with this blog and I have I am now sure having some help. There is some one close to me who has Parkinson Disease and like I have mentioned I was looking for web pages on light and healing when out of the blue and out of the millions of pages out there on the world wide web, popped a page that was directly and absolutely connected with Parkinson Disease and the healing diet that I am on and writing about. Then today I finished reading the book “A million little pieces” by James Frey, (a must read for any one with addiction) and in it he describes how a little book of the teaching of TAO helped him in recovery. I went to the library today and in the book was a library slip from a previous borrower and amongst the nine titles listed was a book titled, “Invoking the light” I have just checked it out on the web and it looks like it is also relevant to what I was looking for a few days ago. I will also borrow that title from the library and let you know.

Nutrition and behaviour

Day 49

I have just viewed a lecture by Dr Russell Baylock titled “Nutrition and Behaviour”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeFplYBDPdo

I suggest that every one would benefit in some way by watching this lecture especially those, (relative or friend) with a propensity towards alcoholism, anti social behaviour, rage, depression, just to name a few of the debilitating sickness that adversely effect our society today. He blames sugar, food additives, and things we eat such as corn, soy, wheat, and potatoes, for the radical behaviour that has people in jail, cause road rage and the mass killings in American schools.

I am well and happy

Day 48

I am feeling a lot better as the rash is now only on my thighs front and back and the itch is almost non existent, the recovery from my excesses were swift this time. My legs ached, a bit this morning for a short time so overall things are progressing well and I am happy. One has to only think that there are always people much worse off than oneself, as in the story i have been reading.

I have been reading a book that i borrowed from the library at the soup kitchen it is about a man James Frey a heartbreaking memoir of addiction. Since the age of twelve he was getting drunk, then in his teens he was passing out every day with booze, he then progresses to cocaine, smack glue.and any thing else he could get his hands on to get out of it, till he has destroyed his body and his mind almost beyond repair. He finds himself on a plane headed to a rehab clinic, I am about half way through, It is appalling, honest and darkly funny. It is called, “a million little pieces”.

Yoga meditation

Day 47

The wonderful healing benefits of sunshine have been known for many centuries in all cultures around the world, they have worshiped the therapeutic qualities of the sun. Wise ancient scholars who’s records thousands of years old, tell of the how the sun was used to strengthen a person’s health and treat a variety of illnesses. The same conditions that are still a concern for us today such as retaining strong muscles, maintaining an ideal weight and a strong heart, asthma. What they did not know then, not having the science is the very serious health risks of vitamin D deficiency

We have evolved to thrive under the light put forth by our sun. We can potentially harm ourselves if we hide from sunlight. Light is the basic component from which all life originates, everything that humans do is affected in some way by light. But too much of a good thing can also harm. In recent years we've all been trained to fear the sun, due to the threat of skin cancer. There is now a growing belief that exposure to the sun may not actually cause skin cancer to a healthy individual. The fear of skin cancer shouldn't keep you indoors all the time as you can reap the sun's healthy benefits with as little as 20 minutes of exposure a day. You can also benefit from a spiritual form light through meditation

Prior to yoga it is usual to meditate on the breath even if you do not intend to practice yoga it is still an excellent healing thing to do for the body and mind

Resting on your back with your neck long, (a small towel folded behind the neck is a good idea) with your arms by your side and slightly out from your body. Your hands open and facing up, place your second finger tips together with your thumbs, relax your whole body. Go up relaxing from your legs through to your shoulders, arms, neck and face. Slightly open the teeth and mouth place the tip of your tongue to rest against the back of your top teeth, breathe. Feel the cool fresh air passing through your nostrils all the way down to below your navel then fill up your chest, a long deep breath to the count of four. Follow the air with your mind to just before the lungs are at their full capacity say soooo in your mind, hold the breath for the count of one and exhale slowly to the count of four, empting the lungs completely and in your mind say hummmm again stop for the count of one, this is the exhaust from your lungs and imagine it as such. The in breath is pure and life giving. I know that this is a lot of instruction to take in but there is one more important healing thing to do and that is to imagine in your minds eye with the life giving incoming air that there is also light, try to see/imagine this in your minds eye. At first this light may be a bit illusive but keep trying and if it is only a glimmer keep trying till it floods the closed eyes with light. The mind is a chatterbox as any of you who have ever tried meditating know, so acknowledge the thought and bring your mind back to the breath etc. Peace and light be with you.

Protect your brain from memory loss.

Day 46

This evening I was researching the benefits of light on healing when suddenly a new page appeared that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. It was an introduction to Neurosurgeon Dr Russell Blaylock and a video. The Doctor lost both his parents to Parkinson disease. Now in his retirement from neurosurgical duties he now devotes his time to the study of the disease plus Memory Loss, Alzheimer’s and Dementia., He now claims that he has the means of prevention and in some cases the healing of the affected brain.

What I have been doing for the last forty six days is pretty much what he is advising to tackle these disease’s, plus he suggests taking, omega three, once a day. Check him out newsmax.com/blaylock/video

Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., is a nationally recognized board-certified neurosurgeon, health practitioner, author, lecturer, and editor of The Blaylock Wellness Report. He attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. For the past 26 years, he has practiced neurosurgery in addition to having a nutritional practice. He recently retired from his neurosurgical duties to devote his full attention to nutritional studies and research. Dr. Blaylock has authored three books on nutrition and wellness, including Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life, and his most recent work, Natural Strategies for The Cancer Patient.

Tree hugging hippies not so silly

Day 44

There is increased evidence from multiple scientific fields that exposure to the natural environment can improve human health.

In studies the natural environment has been shown to decrease stress, increase physical activity and improve air quality. In turn stress and the lack of physical activity and poor air quality have been linked with cardiovascular and lower-respiratory-tract. The pioneering work in the field by Ulrich found that patients recovering from gall bladder-removal surgery with a view of the out side world that included nature, grass trees etc, recovered faster and took fewer medications than patients in a room with a view of a brick wall.

In another study that analysed the health records of 345,000 people found that those living in greener areas were less likely to be diagnosed with 15 of 24 health outcomes examined. Results were particularly strong for anxiety and depression. Walking in forests reduced heart rate. Children who lived in areas with more trees were less likely to have asthma.

Back to square one

Follow in my footsteps as I undertake an ongoing experiment to recover completely from eczema, gut problems and an aching body. I intend to achieve this by not eating anything that is processed, transported over distance, killed, frozen or packaged, (known as dead food). What I am attempting is well proven methodology based on ancient wisdom of the Essenes and Edmond Bordeaux Szekely who successfully cured many hundreds of people of their sickness and disease, plus the wonderful work of Dr Ann Wigmore. I intend to remain fit and healthy into old age by practicing yoga and exercising, eating only healthy organic food, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grain, plus seed sprouts. Doing this I will also save money and leave a light footprint.

Day 44

I have learnt a valuable lesson these last few days, like I said at the beginning I do not have a good track record at self improvement or self discipline. And now I am back where I started as far as my skin condition goes. Drinking alcohol and coffee was a very bad idea then to top it off I spent some time yesterday with friends who own a dog even though he was not on the veranda with me at the time he dose spends time there. Last night I did not get to sleep till way after three am, being very itchy and uncomfortable all over.

THE COMPLETE MEAL SALAD

Part three

The average American eats too much food and takes in too many empty calories, energy units without vitamins and minerals. Our “complete meal salad” contains 543 calories, minerals and enzyme-packed calories. If other two meals of the day contain the same number of calories, total caloric intake will total 1600.

Eating the highly processed foods of today negates the instinctive knowledge of how much and what to eat. Assuming that the person who partakes of the complete meal salad is on somewhat of a natural food regime, he or she will instinctively know how whether the meal is satisfying, is too much or is not enough. With good judgment and regained instinct, the individual may take the complete meal salad and adjust it to his or her own personal requirements. It will maintain good health in body, mind and spirit.

COMPLETE MEAL SALAD FOR TWO

1 C mung sprouts

1 C alfalfa

1 C summer squash, grated

1 C mixed greens

1 half avocado, sliced

¼ cucumber, sliced

4 slices tomato

4 slices red pepper

2 T sunflower seeds

2 T coconut oil

I t kelp

Day 42

Still quite itchy today and had to postpone going for a motor bike ride because of the heat. I also think that sitting on top of a petrol engine is not so good either.

More from the book by Dr Ann Wigmore, Recipes for Longer Life.

THE COMPLETE MEAL SALAD

Part two:

In plant life, much of the protein is already in a pre-digested state; this is especially true of sprouts and indoor greens, in which most of the protein is in the form of simple amino acids. Furthermore, the protein in plants has the advantage of being free from nucleon-proteins and there fore dose not lead to the formation af uric acid in the system and dose not encourage gout or rheumatism.

New scientific findings indicate the amount of protein required can vary from 20 to 50 grams for each individual, depending on weight, sex, climate, and type of work. Dr. N. Hindhade, Director of the Hindhade Laboratory for Nutritional Research established by the Danish Government, shows the definite relationship between high protein diets and acidosis and disease. It is a scientifically demonstrated fact, for example, that dairy cows which are fed heavily on proteins are short-lived and subject to many disorders of the kidneys and bowels not found in cows permitted to graze and eat in a more normal manner.

It has been dramatically pointed out that a low protein diet in animals and humans yields an increased resistance to disease, and builds an, immunity against cancer and that it is nearly impossible to graft cancer cells onto species fed on a low protein diet.

Protein is constructed of 22 building blocks called amino acids, of which eight have been found in the food requirements of people. From those eight, we can synthesize the others we require. All eight of these essential amino acids must be present together in the “complete meal” as they complement each other‘s qualities. If one of the eight is missing, then the remaining amino acids /cannot be utilized and fail to provide what they were designed to.

Protein is very sensitive to heat. Heat causes irreversible changes in protein, changes that downgrade the protein. Most Americans (Australians) now cook their food, whether meat of vegetable, which could account for the fact that most nutritionists recommend approximately 70 grams of protein a per day for the average person, whereas raw food proponents recommend only about half that amount. Uncooked food can provide more usable proteins.

Day 41

I must admit that I have not been good and it shows. Last weekend my son and his family arrived from Western Australia and we had a BBQ ( I had veggie burger and salad) at my other son’s house by the beach where I had a few beers and then at my place I had a couple of more beers and shared a bottle of red wine and now my eczema has flared up and I am itchy all over. There is a lesson here that once you commence a cleansing diet it dose not take much to regress and the resulting effects are then two fold.

More from the book by Dr Ann Wigmore, Recipes for Longer Life.

THE COMPLETE MEAL SALAD

Part one.

Certain aspects of nutrition may be considered within the realms of science. An analysis of Dr Ann Wigmore’s Complete Meal Salad has been prepared by Dr Harvey c. Lisle, a graduate in chemical engineering from the University of Ohio, with fifteen years’ industrial experience in food testing laboratories, including both animal and human foods. Over the years, he observed the natural superiority of health in families raised on natural foods and became convinced that the health enrichment of Americans lies in their abandoning highly refined and processed foods returning to naturally produced foods.

The ingredients required in a complete meal are protein, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes in sufficient quantizes to furnish adequate energy (or calories), and elements needed for growth (or maintain). A meal prepared from garden produce, sprouts, and seeds will assuredly be rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. By added a little dulse or kelp to the meal, flavor is enhanced and minerals are enriched beyond any doubt of adequacy. Such meal provides a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.

Animal protein has to be broken down into simple amino acids before it can be reconstructed into human protein. In meat eaters, putrefactive bacteria predominate, and most of the meat rots in the lengthy human intestines, placing an excessive strain on the liver, which is not equipped to eliminate large quanties of uric acid and other toxic by-products of meat eating. These toxins are often absorbed into the tissue of the organism.

Day 40

In a bit of light reading I borrowed from “the besty” I found a news paper article cut out and used as a book mark that I thought might be of interest, the caption of the article is  “To make a fiery adult feed the kid a bit of TV” by Penny Fannin and agencies.

Watching more than one hour of television a day may make adolescents more aggressive in adulthood a land mark investigation has found. Adolescent boys were particularly prone to violence in their early teens or early 20s, but even young adults who watched two or more hours a day – especially women – were more likely to be aggressive.

During the 17 – year study researchers from the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University tracked more than 700 people from adolescence to adulthood. The results were published in Science.

Our findings suggest that ,at least during early adolescence, responsible parents should avoid permitting their children to watch more than one hour of television a day,” said Dr Jeffery Johnson, of Colombia’s psychiatry department. That’s where the vast majority of the increase in risk occurs.

He said the link with aggression remained even after accounting for other factors such as childhood neglect, low family income or psychiatric disorders.

David Richie, a media studies lecturer at Deakin University, said similar trends would be seen in Australia. “I think the aggressive acts and the incidence would be fewer in number, but I think that the associations would be the same”.

But the research did not mean that watching television was all bad. “You have to deal with human behaviour in a social context, and its social context includes things other than television. We don’t have enough information to lay the blame at the door of television but it is a reminder that there’s an association.

I believe that a major factor in family break down is the habit of eating meals in front of the television instead of sitting around the dining table and interacting as a family. The worst case scenario is the adolescent who takes, or in some cases their meal is delivered like hotel room service, to their room to then eat in front of their own television or computer. It could not be good for the digestion either.

Update on eczema

Follow in my footsteps as I undertake an ongoing experiment to recover completely from eczema, gut problems and an aching body. I intend to achieve this by not eating anything that is processed, transported over distance, killed, frozen or packaged, (known as dead food). What I am attempting is well proven methodology based on ancient wisdom of the Essenes and Edmond Bordeaux Szekely who successfully cured many hundreds of people of their sickness and disease, plus the wonderful work of Dr Ann Wigmore. I intend to remain fit healthy into old age by practicing yoga and exercising, eating only healthy organic food, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grain, plus seed sprouts. Doing this I will also save money and leave a light footprint

Day 39

My stomach has settled down and I am sleeping well and I now have only to get up once each night to go to the toilet. The eczema is still around but it is only occasionally itchy, which is a great relief for me as it has been driving me crazy for such along time now. Foe those of you that have this rotten skin condition will I'm sure identify what a God send this would be to ones quality of life. No more dry flocky red scabby skin, no blood on the sheets in the morning etc.

I am still trying to grow sprouts, the wheat grass is growing a bit thin, but I have now a quantity of sprouts for my salad. It was very hot in Lismore on the weekend into the mid forties on Sunday I was told, I was on the coast near the beach on Sunday and enjoyed a cool sea breeze.

Is corn syrup causing the obesity epidemic and harming the brain, too?

Follow in my footsteps as I undertake an ongoing experiment to recover completely from eczema, gut problems and an aching body. Day 38

On the weekend I was talking to my daughter in law about obesity in this country and she said that although Australia has the highest level of obesity per number of population, In America she said ( where she visited recently) the people are huge. One reason she said was the consumption of corn syrup, so I have decided to investigate and found this.

Quoted from: Rodale.com

Foods that appear to be nutritious could actually be destroying your brainpower. The culprit? A common ingredient slipped into many "healthy" foods, including baby food, applesauce, and oatmeal, a breakfast favourite. Researchers at UCLA found that ingesting foods and drinks containing fructose, a component of the ingredient high-fructose corn syrup and sugar, for just six weeks caused troubling changes in brain function. "Our findings illustrate that what you eat affects how you think," says Fernando Gomez-Pinilla, PhD, a professor of neurosurgery and integrative biology and physiology at UCLA. "Eating a high-fructose diet over the long term alters your brain's ability to learn and remember information."

While high-fructose corn syrup and added sugar is rampant in soda and candy products, it also hides out in some seemingly innocuous items like bread, juices, ketchup, and instant oatmeal. (Previous studies have found high-fructose corn syrup is sometimes contaminated with mercury.) Most often associated with obesity and diabetes, this latest study, appearing in the Journal of Physiology, shows that too much fructose can harm the brain, too. This could be leading to an all-out American brain drain, given that the average citizen downs about 35 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup every year.

Quoted from: The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Obesity is a major epidemic, but its causes are still unclear. In this article, we investigate the relation between the intake of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and the development of obesity. We analysed food consumption patterns by using US Department of Agriculture food consumption tables from 1967 to 2000. The consumption of HFCS increased > 1000% between 1970 and 1990, far exceeding the changes in intake of any other food or food group. HFCS now represents > 40% of caloric sweeteners added to foods and beverages and is the sole caloric sweetener in soft drinks in the United States. Our most conservative estimate of the consumption of HFCS indicates a daily average of 132 kcal for all Americans aged ≥ 2 y, and the top 20% of consumers of caloric sweeteners ingest 316 kcal from HFCS/d. The increased use of HFCS in the United States mirrors the rapid increase in obesity. The digestion, absorption, and metabolism of fructose differ from those of glucose. Hepatic metabolism of fructose favors de novo lipogenesis. In addition, unlike glucose, fructose does not stimulate insulin secretion or enhance leptin production. Because insulin and leptin act as key afferent signals in the regulation of food intake and body weight, this suggests that dietary fructose may contribute to increased energy intake and weight gain. Furthermore, calorically sweetened beverages may enhance caloric overconsumption. Thus, the increase in consumption of HFCS has a temporal relation to the epidemic of obesity, and the overconsumption of HFCS in calorically sweetened beverages may play a role in the epidemic of obesity.

Yes i am saving money.

Day 37

Yesterday while visiting my two sons and their families I was introduced by the younger son to sprouted bread that he had purchased. The brand name is PURE LIFE, the product is, Bio-Dynamic, Sprouted Bread, ESSENE SUPREME. I brought my self a loaf today at Fundamental Foods in Lismore for $7. 35, there were quite a verity of sprouted beads to choose from. I know that the first reaction to this price is that it is expensive for one loaf of bread but the goodness, food value and taste compared flour based bread is out standing, and one thin slice is quite filling.

I have claimed that I will save money on this diet. Looking at my most recent credit union statement for the fortnight from the 7th of December I had $44.42 remaining in the black from my pension of $547.70. At the end of the next fortnight starting on the 21st, I had $106.29 remaining in the black, from this fortnightly payment I had paid a electricity bill of $157.70.

These are a few of my works of art, prints are available, price depends on size, paper, framing etc, and postage.

Eczema is curable

Day 35

It is thirty five days now since I started this experiment to rid myself from eczema that has been a major health issue for me. And even though the medical establishment say there is no known cure I can say now that the rash has all but disappeared, I still have a few places on my body that the rash persists, mainly on my feet, my skin is not dry and scaly any more, it is looking good and I get comments on how well I look now, the itch is now very mild and I am confident that if I persist with what I am doing It will go completely and I am sure for good.

The steps that I have taken in the past to avoid flare ups was to rid my home of the 80% wool carpet and paint the concrete floor with non allergic paint that I was able to use myself., a new mattress and foods that I have learnt to avoid,

Excerpts from medialnewstoday.com

There is currently no cure for atopic eczema- there is no treatment that gets rid of it for good, as with the case with surgery to cure blindness caused by cataracts. However there are a variety of treatments which focus on the symptoms as well as stratifies to avoid triggers and may improve the patients quality of life considerably.

Avoid scratching

Itchiness is a common part of eczema, and scratching is a natural reaction to deal with the itching. Unfortunately, scratching ( I find almost impossible) will invariably further aggravate the skin and make symptoms worse. Scratching also raises the risk of infection.

Avoid trigger factors

A good doctor will have established a list of factors that trigger eczema flares. The penitent should avoid them as much as possible. Parents/guardians need to remind children of the triggers and help them to avoid them.

People with atopic eczema usually avoid clothes made of synthetic fibres and opt natural materials such as cotton ( I have personally found bamboo fibre socks excellent and hemp is becoming popular)

We know that dust mites ( pet dander) are likely triggers for many people,. However, most studies have found that trying to eradicate them from your home is very time consuming and dose not seem to be very effective in reducing the frequency of flare ups. ( I replaced my mattress for a Wenatex mattress that has built in mite protection for the sleeper).www.wenatex.com.au  phone 1800659969 (aus) for Event Booking.

The detrimental effects of freezing on food.

Day 34

Before I went on this pure food trip I was into frozen food, as a bachelor it was convenient cooking for one, less waste and convenient, and I could decide what I fancied to cook by looking in the freezer department of my fridge and choosing from the packets. So tonight I decided to research the detrimental effects of freezing on food.

Freezing food stops most enzyme activity and inhibits bacteria and mold growth. However it doesn't sterilize food, although some microorganisms die, others resume activity as soon as the temperature increases. Another problem is that the water in the food ruptures the cell membranes as it expands into ice crystals. This effect is more pronounced in meat than in vegetables and fruits. Although your freezer may be filled with ice the air in it is extremely dry. As a result, if unwrapped or poorly wrapped food is left there for some time, it'll undergo freezer burn. In freezer burn the ice crystals in the food evaporate without first melting (a process called sublimation), altering the taste of the dried-out parts when they're thawed and eaten and in extreme cases making them inedible.

LIVING FOODS DEFINED

Day 34

Just a reminder dear reader that if you want to understand what I am doing it would be an idea to read what I have written further down my blog, click on the prompt at the bottom of the page.

More from the book by Dr Ann Wigmore, Recipes for longer Life.

LIVING FOODS DEFINED

(An Excerpt from a letter to Ann Wigmore from chemist Harvey Lisle).

To understand what organic food is, one must first understand the definition of organic soil, since the product of soil. I have read many definitions of organic soil and found that they tend to miss the point. Organic soil has been defined as one in which no chemicals or poisons have been used and in which there is an adequate supply of humus or organic matter. This is correct, yet an important factor is missing: the key point in organic soil is balance.

To understand what is meant by balance, one must realize that all nature, all of life, is polarity. Polarities appear to be in opposition, but in reality control each other. Some easily-preconceived polarities are: are hot and cold, wet and dry, … day and night, male and female … if any one member of a polarity becomes too great at the expense of its opposite, then an unstable, unhealthy condition will persist until the two members of the polarities come back into balance …

In grasping the concept of balance and its importance, we shall now consider what happens when a typical chemical fertilizer such as 6-24-12 is added to the soil (6% nitrogen – 24% phosphorous oxide – 12% potassium oxide) These ingredients are water soluble and absorb much too rapidly by the soil. The soluble phosphorous and potassium tip the balance in their favour, and a true balance has been lost. Any food raised in that soil will not be in balance. Such unbalanced food will fill empty stomachs and sustain life but will not promote health.
To consider the attachment of a truly organic soil, the following points must be considered: the soil should be tested and brought into balance by earthworms and compost … Such a soil will then attract and be a home for many living organisms … and will be a truly living soil.

Now, with a better understanding of what truly organic soil is, it will be a simple matter to understand what an organic living food is. An organic living food which has been raised on an organic, balanced soil. Hopefully, it would be a well balanced food with minerals, vitamins, and enzymes, all in balance. From a practical standpoint, sunshine, rain, and weather cannot be ignored in considering a balance … however knowing what takes to develop an organic soil and what is required to raise organic food , we can strive for the best.

Note;

Your indoor garden can be a great help in this respect, as indoor gardeners can control the balance in their soil. A.W.
